I just wanted to know how should companies name their RAMs , as I wanted to buy a RAM for my laptop, I made a mistake and bought the desktop one , partly this is my mistake , I am new here and made it . But I have bought stuff even from international importers such as Epomakers and never made such a mistake.
And As I was going through this community , all people who sold or bought ram mentioned in the title itself that it’s UDIMM or SODIMM , but take a look at this click here .
I bought that RAM since dumb me didn’t see that carefully on the specifications and to add cherry on top , they had one click checkout , which completely negates the idea of double checking and I asked them about this and this was their replay .
All other e-commerce brands such as Amazon , Flipkart , or even resellers have mentioned laptop or desktop or alteast UDIMM or SODIMM on the title itself , and this guy is saying that " IT IS STANDARD PRACTICE THAT IF IT IS NOT MENTIONED UDIMM OR SODIMM , IT’S AUTOMATICALLY UDIMM or for desktops " .
Is it really so? what do you think about this. And look I am genuinely want to get the bottom of this , and that I made a mistake in not checking it properly . Just wanted to get all your opinions on this! Thank you
I also get confused when it’s written as UDIMM or SODIMM so I explicitly check whether it’s written to be used for desktop or laptop along with its images and then order.
These days it’s easy to get confused and order the wrong one.
Yeah like these people won’t even take return if genuine mistake happened , and if it was like in local stores or some e-commerce , even if it’s like few hundreds costlier I would buy that , in adding to that , random people on this forum is even professional than them , I even posted a review and those guys ig removed it since it looks bad on their website , never trusting it ever again
In any sales business, it’s natural to expect some returns due to incorrect purchases. While a strict “no return” policy may be understandable in cases where the customer simply changes their mind and doesn’t intend to buy a replacement, it’s less reasonable when the customer wishes to exchange the product for the correct one.
If a customer has mistakenly purchased the wrong item but wants to buy the right one instead, the seller should facilitate the return, provided the returned product is in good working condition. Upon verification, the seller can then ship the correct item to the customer.
The returned product can be resold at a slightly reduced price under the label “OPEN BOX.” This approach ensures the seller either maintains a neutral profit margin or potentially earns a small profit from both the sales combined.
More importantly, even in a no profit break even scenario, the seller builds trust with the customer. A positive experience encourages repeat business and long term loyalty. The customer will return.
What’s even more shocking is that they didn’t post my review on their site and removed it and when I got the ram module , it is fully sealed and I didn’t even open it , I saw the label and after 5 mins after getting the product, I called them and asked them about this , everything is fine , removing a review just because it looks bad on their website is too much , and I have even purchased via international importers , but never in my life seen such thing as this, honestly if they faciliated the return , I would have vouched for them to my local friends and introduced to them to this , anyway , what’s bugging me is not the return thing but how low some store have to be to remove a review?
To be honest with you, what they said about it being standard naming practice is true. For me I always assume the stick is UDIMM (PC) unless its stated to be SODIMM or mentions laptop anywhere. As a surety I look at how the stick looks before recommending or purchasing it. I also check the specs for latency and other details and if it was me ordering it I wouldn’t have most likely made the same mistake as you did but I don’t blame you. You can’t always buy everything right, more so when we are talking about PC components with such specific requirements.
What’s disappointing is that Elitehubs aren’t willing to take the return. Least they can do is ask you to ship it to them if they don’t want the hassle of paying and doing it themselves, especially since the item is sealed and verifying that it’s not tempered is very easy.
I suppose the only thing you can do in this instance is to take the loss and sell it as new sealed or open box and recoup some money.
