Honestly, this year’s list looks very underwhelming across most categories. Not a single movie apart from maybe Dune is memorable that people would want to rewatch. Even Dune is only good as a visual treat but feels lacking in writing/storytelling. Haven’t seen all of them, so might be wrong, but that’s the feeling I get from trailers and wibes. Correct me if I am wrong.
I thought DV (Dune - best director) and Daniel Craig (Queer) would easily get nominated.
Wicked was quite a surprise for me. Substance shud have got more.
For best actress, I am pretty sure it is going to be Mikey Madison for Anora. Adrien Brody for best actor maybe. Yet to see the movie as Indian theatrical release is only in Feb. Same goes for A Complete Unknown. Ralph Fiennes was great in Conclave though. For best picture, I am rooting for Anora, Dune, and The Substance. Have high expectations for A Complete Unknown and The Brutalist but I need to see them first. Nosferatu will probably win all categories for which it is has been nominated. Strange Darling should have at least gotten a nomination.
Just saw the results. I didn’t know it was today. Anora swept the major awards away. Like I said before, pretty weak list that. Are movies getting a bit less exciting or am I getting old? Lol.
