PC Build Feedback Needed – Budget ₹3.5L for Video Editing + 3D Work + Rendering (with OLED Monitor)

Hey everyone!
A friend of mine is building a high-end workstation PC for video editing, 3D modeling, animation, and heavy rendering. His total budget is around ₹3,50,000, and that includes both the PC + one OLED monitor.

This is the current parts list (screenshot attached in the post):

Processor: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
Motherboard: Gigabyte X870 AORUS Elite Wifi
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5080 Windforce OC
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 64GB (32×2) DDR5 6000MHz
PSU: ASUS ROG Strix 1000W Gold Fully Modular
SSD: Adata Legend 960 2TB NVMe Gen4
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 4TB (5400RPM)
Cabinet: Lian Li O11 Vision
CPU Cooler: Corsair 360mm Liquid Cooler
Monitor: MSI MAG 271QPX QD-OLED 27" 240Hz
Case Fans: Deepcool FD14 ARGB

Total build cost: ~₹3,73,000

What I’d love feedback on:

  1. Is the AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D the right choice for video editing and 3D rendering?
Or would downgrading to ryzen 9 9900x offer better value?

  2. Any bottlenecks, unnecessary overkill, or smarter optimizations?

  3. Any alternative cases or components that give better airflow or value?

  4. Overall—does this build make sense for professional creative workloads within ₹3.5L?

Might be unpopular opinion, but you should probably go intel if the workstation is solely for productivity. It also kinda depends on the software you use, so that information would help in suggesting the right thing. Intel’s quicksync offers some pretty nice benefits depending on the software you’re gonna be using for editing.

In general most reviews have painted the Core ultra series as pretty bad, due to the worse than last gen gaming performance and no competition against AMD efficiency. But when it comes to productivity stuff, 285K still comes on top of the 9950X. Granted with a lot more power usage. So you need to sort out your priorities here. Both the platforms are probably only gonna get one more generation of CPUs. Do keep in mind, that if you go Intel, you wanna get at least 7600 or if possible 8200 Mhz RAM in order to leverage the superior memory controller on the Intel side. RAM prices for Intel sticks also haven’t skyrocketed as much yet.

If you do want to go AMD, no point getting the x3D, no benefit for your workload (unless you’re gonna be gaming). You can save 10-12k right here by going 9950X or 285K instead of 9950X3D.

If you don’t mind the looks of it, Arctic Liquid Freezer III (or III Pro with the better fans) is pretty much the best AIO on the market at a good price. Even more so for Intel.

O11 Vision is pretty much a completely aesthetics focused case. If you’re looking for airflow, look at the lancool series. Lancool 206, 207 and 217 are some of the top performers on the market in terms of thermals.

That’s not ATX 3.1 or even 3.0 I think. For 50 series GPU, you should get a newer one. Some good options:

Both are highly rated on the PSU Tier list.

Welp, this sounds to me more like a Gaming build on hype products than actually well researched video editing / 3D build. Go with intel and quicksync, and a used 4090 ideally. Asus ProArt and BenQ profession series monitors will suit you better than OLED in this case. Also don’t gamble with ADATA Solid State Drives.

If I were to advice your friend, I’d go with @Typhon’s listing and add GPUs plus a decently calibrated monitor.

You can actually squeeze in a 5090 if you go with a decent IPS panel all under 4L which would suit you much better than 5080 in the longer run.

From personal experience, the 9950x3d isn’t worth the minuscule performance boost over the 9950x as I’m using a 4K oled monitor with the PC. But your mileage may vary. Do check out, there’s a lot of comparison articles and videos for them both.

I might not also not fit in here but if I have to advice when it comes to video editing.

I have had great experience with Mac mini and da vinci resolve for almost 1/4 of the price of your budget.

I am talking about 4k resolution edits with multiple layers.

However I lack knowledge on other software you wish to use. So take. Y suggestion only on video editing.

It’s not just for video editing but for 3d rendering like maya and blender too. All in one powerhouse.

Yes I understand. I clearly mentioned my suggestion is only for video editing scene.
And rest left for others to suggest.

I don’t know if mac m- based silicon chips also perform well with those 3D software.
Maybe they do, maybe they don’t.

4090 is pretty much out of stock everywhere. Do you know reliable place to buy 4090.

Yeah they are pretty hard to come by, I had seen one selling on Discord but now that is sold. Think about the 5090 idea again if that makes sense to you. Also, I’ll keep an eye out and let you know.
