Since many games don’t support ultrawide properly, I’m considering this 43″ 16:9 option. I don’t play fast-paced shooters, so I’m not too worried about ghosting/smearing.
Questions:
Is this a good upgrade at 35k, considering it’s pre-owned?
How does the Samsung compare to my Dell in terms of immersion, size, and panel quality?
Would 2 feet viewing distance be fine for a 43″ monitor?
Resale value wise, is it a safe move?
Would love to hear your thoughts before pulling the trigger.
Check reviews, but from what i remember this is much worse than the 32’ Neo g7 miniled (which is one of the best minileds but samsung QA might not be great).
I tried 42’ TV at arms distance some time back and it was uncomfortable to me, not usable. But people do use 42 LG C2 as desktop monitor
Dunno about value, but it depends on priority too i guess. Oleds are getting cheaper and cheaper and faster and faster. If you can take oled precautions, image quality jump is Huge vs plain ips/va. This i think is a miniled, so it should have gotten close to oleds, but i am sure i read that this is not a great miniled. If this was 32 4k neo g7, it would be a lot better - assuming no defect with monitor.
I don’t have experience with either, so better wait for more informed opinion.
Thanks for the detailed input . Just to clarify, I already use an LG C3 48" but only as a TV, not as a monitor (due to burn-in concerns). My Dell S3422DWG ultrawide is my main monitor right now, and I find its HDR and brightness quite limited.
That’s why I’m considering the 43" Neo G7 — mainly as a dedicated PC monitor with better HDR and no OLED risks. I know the 32" version is better reviewed, but I’m curious if anyone here has real-world experience with the 43" specifically. How’s the dimming, blooming and overall usability for long sessions at desk distance?
I’ve been using a 43” monitor for some time now. It’d be a definite step up in terms of screen real estate from the Dell 34” monitor.
There are a few things to keep in mind:
It’s a VA panel with BGR sub-pixel layout (and I’m quite sure it’s a QLED TV panel). Black text on a grey background or fonts with a grey shade aren’t rendered quite clearly, and many users have complained about this issue with VA panels with BGR layout.
Having a deep desk is a must for reducing the roation of your head. My desk is 75 cm deep, and the monitor takes a good 15cm. A monitor arm or a wall mount can help with a shallow desk
With the large dimming zones, blooming is inevitable.
Fast-paced shooters aren’t the issue you’ll have with ghosting and smearing, it’s rather the white text on a dark background (especially in dark mode). In this regard it’s the opposite of your OLED TV.
Now coming to the Gameloot deal, on face value it’s good, but I’d ask them if they have the original box for shipping (also good to have it, if you want to sell it off later), and to provide more images.
I was mainly eyeing the 43” Neo G7 for HDR boost and larger screen space. The BGR sub-pixel issue and dark mode text clarity are definitely concerns for me since I spend a lot of time on trading/charting platforms.
Desk depth isn’t a problem (80 cm here), but blooming and white text on dark backgrounds might be. Since I already use an LG C3 as a TV (not a monitor, to avoid burn-in), I’m kind of spoiled by its crisp text rendering.
About the Gameloot deal — it’s listed as open box with only 1 month warranty and no mention of the original packaging. That makes me a bit hesitant, especially considering future resale or if any panel issue pops up.
Would you suggest skipping this and instead waiting for a safer deal ?, i am worried about oled burn ins so decided to skip alienware oled monitor.
I have seen very few BFG monitor deals, and I can’t dictate what people might buy. If it were me, I’d be concerned with the warranty and the packaging foremost. As it is, this deal is a gamble. This monitor would work great in a room with good lighting. When I was in the market, I had three options for 120Hz+ displays: Gigabyte FV43U, Acer CG437KP, and this monitor. I had earlier returned a Samsung M7 smart monitor due to a panel crack issue and bought the Acer. Thus, warranties do come in handy, and I’m not sure how readily Gameloot would take the monitor back if you find dead pixels (which even brands don’t consider), tint issue, or don’t like it in the end of the day. You can call them and get their assurance at least. Waiting for a safer deal would be prudent if it’s not urgent. 43”/48” monitor space is very niche, and just a couple of models are there in the market.
Thanks for the advice. The models you mentioned aren’t in stock anymore, which makes this one of the few available options right now. I agree the 1-month warranty and lack of box are the main risks here, so I’ll check directly with Gameloot about their assurance on returns/replacements before deciding.
Gameloot is known to not honour warranties as is the case with nearly every used product website in India. Unless you can get something with manufacturer warranty, I would never recommend purchasing from such sites.
Thanks for the heads-up. That’s exactly my concern—without manufacturer warranty, it’s too risky. A couple of bad experiences shared online (like the Reddit thread you linked) make me doubt how they’d handle something like dead pixels or panel issues. For this kind of investment, I’d rather wait for a proper deal with full warranty than gamble on a site that may not back their word.
True, the risk isn’t worth it. Without proper warranty support, a 1-month assurance from Gameloot doesn’t give much peace of mind. I’ll skip this deal and just wait for a new one with full manufacturer warranty.
My personal take but stay on the ultrawide. You really don’t need a 43” monitor unless you do couch gaming.
Also the fact you will be taking a risk with such delicate product, You can’t ship this to a repair shop in case it breaks down (unlike another component like motherboard or GPU which is much cheaper and easier).
What others have said is real as well.
Edit: Also isn’t that monitor like a 26-27 inch monitor in height but just wider? Haven’t got the pleasure of using Ultrawides but seems like a good monitor to me.
Yeah, I totally get what you’re saying. I’ve been using the Dell S3422DWG 34” ultrawide, and honestly, it’s just the right size — wide enough for productivity and immersive gaming, but not so huge that it becomes a hassle. The height is basically like a standard 27” monitor, so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.
I actually considered upgrading to an OLED ultrawide even though my monitor is barely a year old, but the burn-in risk just isn’t worth it. Sticking with this one feels like the safer, smarter choice.
Discussing OLED burn-in is a whole new topic but the gist of it is that it’s becoming manageable now. With stuff like pixel shift (which I think is being used for every OLED launching now) worrying about burn-in is pointless, especially true if you keep the brightness to a normal level.
Yeah you will not get a good value if you decide to sell your Dell monitor (for the fact its a big monitor and they are a hassle to transport safely). Stay on your current one. I wish to own an OLED one day as well.
Exactly, that’s one of the main reasons I’m sticking with my Dell S3422DWG. Transporting a 34” ultrawide safely is such a hassle, and the resale value just isn’t worth it.
I’ve thought about upgrading to an OLED too, but honestly, the burn-in risk makes me hold off for now. Maybe someday when the tech is even more mature!
Thanks for all the tips and suggestions, everyone! I’m gonna stick with my Dell for now and won’t be upgrading anytime soon. Really appreciate all the insights!
