Speaker with good performance at low volume

budget : 15k , can stretch easily if worth

Requirements for speaker:

  • bluetooth
  • not too big. smaller the better
  • great sound at low volume. I guess these are called ‘near field’ speakers ? This is important.
  • okayish bass. not crazy about it though, but some bass always feels nice.

Considering:

  • Edifier R1700BT .. But some say studio monitors don’t sound ‘nice’ . I have no idea about this.

  • Also open to passive speakers + fosi amplifier

I listen to some random songs and videos and some movies and games and hate the laptop speakers!

Earlier I had a samsung soundbar + woofer which I really liked, but my audiophile brother called it crap. haha. Its only problem was I could only feel the music at high volume at which point the sound would permeate the whole house .

Why not buy portable Bluetooth speaker like this one under 5000 and rest 10 upgrade to iem with dac

Marshall Willen 2, been using one for a year - fantastic sound quality, ticks all the boxes.

Thanks guys. So I said I want small, but actually I forgot that small could mean portable size. I meant small desktop/bookshelf size speakers. If that makes sense..

Also no portable with battery.

The DAC idea is interesting, but I don’t think I can give a dedicated usb port for this purpose..

I don’t think you could do that even with very high end speakers at low volume. To feel the music, you need the air to vibrate at high amplitudes.

What is the basis of this statement? They are definitely going to be better than a soundbar.

I didn’t mean that literally..

Look .. The Edifier 1700’s aren’t studio monitors. I have the 1850’s Which are almost the same model and they are quite good. I’ve used them as TV speakers (distance of 10’) and as desktop speakers.

Near field and far field aren’t concerns of yours at that budget. None of the ready made/branded passives + FOSI amp will come close at that budget. For an amp + passive setup you would probably need to double your budget.

I bought edifier 1280dbs after visiting a local shop

Also quite good. Good decision.

Also see mods edited out Monkey. But the their nick says bandar….

:+1: Good choice

So after visiting the shop I went ahead and found it cheaper on amazon. From where I bought it. But amazon has sent me a different one ! and they have no replacement … :expressionless:

Guys any dealers in nehru place that keep edifier stuff. Can’t stand that laptop speaker anymore !

If possible try to find a class A/B amp . A 20W class A/B amp will sound much much better than a class D 100w amp if you really want to enjoy the music . A LM3886 should be an excellent amp . Lot of DIY amps and small businesses sell those amps .

So I generally love doing dabbling in stuff. But have no knowledge in this field, budget of 15k - can stretch to 20k and little time to spend here. Plus my biggest concern is -
low volume good quality listening.

I think its best If I go with ready solution. Unless someone is kind enough for to guide me get this amp + passive speaker.
