@badwhitevision

I am finding them as 3.9k in FK .. Have they increased the price?

Yes, it’s increased now.

Keep checking it, they should reduce it once more before the sale ends. Maybe around/after some time the sale starts for non-plus/vip members.

How is your experience using the router?

This one doesn’t support openwrt as far as I know. The cheaper AX23 does. Given US ban on tplink, not sure its a great idea to use it without changing the firmware.

never had any issues using it behind the proprietary JIO ont

I’ve had mine for two weeks, running in 5GHz only mode. It’s been fantastic, I’m maxing out my internet on speedtests through a concrete wall.

Basic rule that I’ve come up with after testing is that 5GHz will penetrate one wall and that’s all you can expect. 2.4GHz will penetrate 2-3 walls.

Anything more than that, you’ll need a second device. So ideal placement is in the center of the home with a line of sight to wherever you need wifi.

In all my decades of being online, two things have made me feel like I’ve jumped into the future: fiber internet and 5GHz wifi.

The cheaper AX23 also isn’t a recommended device for running latest openwrt version given AX23 pretty basic hardware. No need to worry that much about your home router security when majority of your ISP networking hardware already made in China.

I personally like openwrt for other reasons as well, single interface for all access points and fast roaming between APs with Dawn enabled.
The hardware is pretty capable, never had any issues with openwrt on it, though I do the routing and firewall on a separate dedicated router. These cheap ones are great as access points plus as a switch for connecting TVs in each room. For simpler setups it may not make a difference.

Agree but like you said, openwrt doesn’t make much sense for simple home setups & most here are having such setup only. In fact getting Deco 3 pack 1200mbps AC1200 model is even better for them.

I have been playing around with openwrt on my oldie archer a6.

What makes you think ax23 cant handle openwrt?

It literally handles multiwan so well even on A6. Maybe you didn’t try it with hardware offloading?

Anyways if someone is selling ax23 V1 I would like to take it.

Yeah ax23 runs openwrt fine. The only constraint is you can’t install heavy themes like argon on it due to lack of space. Rest it works for everything else.

Because it has only 16MB flash storage/128MB ram & openwrt website itself says “16MB Flash will provide for bare minimum installed packages. Devices with more storage is recommended. 128MB RAM will provide for minimal functionality. Devices with more RAM is recommended.” Openwrt forum also has many threads reporting issues with latest openwrt versions on AX23 which is expected due to increased hardware demands of newer versions of openwrt.

That depends on what you run on it, I am pretty sure adguard home can’t run on this & I know some ppl who prefer that over pihole.
