I am in Germany for next 15 days. What would you guys suggest to buy from here? Open to any electronics or non-electronics items.
I am thinking of getting a mechanical keyboard like Lemokey which isn’t easily available in India or something from NuPhy which are usually pre-order items on CtrlShiftStore.
I also looked up refurbished Thinkpads but they’re still expensive here imo.
Clean air maybe ? ![]()
Thanks a lot for the suggestions, let me have a look into these items. Beer mugs were already on my list but you’ve given a lot of nice inputs.
Germany has a really good homelab community, check the local classifieds and snag what you need if you’re into homelabing !
Good to know, I am keeping an eye on kleinanzeigen and ebay, although prices seem to be on the higher side. Would like to buy a cheap HBA controller for SAS drives if possible.
Garmin watch like Enduro 3 or Fenix 8 etc.
The top models one.
Hiking shoes from brands like La Sportiva, Scarpa, Salomon , Mammut.
Winter clothes from brands like Arcteryx, Mammut, Rab , Montane, Mountain Hardwear etc.
Big Backpack from Osprey or Gregory. ( The top models one) Otherwise for smaller and medium ones not worth the trouble.
If you are in adventure sports of any kind. You can check for the stuffs in that field.
India is still not there with adventure gears.
Most of them specially the sizes are never available. Nor the brands I mentioned.
Plus Decathlon is very okay stuff. Average mostly but good value for money though.
Winter wear has been suggested and rightly so, I brought along some Uniqlo and Decathlon stuff but I feel its not a match for the quality they use here. Will definitely buy a down jacket/parka from here.
I’m not really into adventure stuff but will lookout for a nice deal on Garmin watches.
Thanks for the suggestions, really helpful.
Wooting 60HE V2 is pretty much an endgame keyboard if you are into FPS games.
Oof 240 Euros! I can bring one for you but 25k for a keyboard is way beyond my budget. 10k is max what i would like to spend, my focus is a good overall experience (typing plus gaming, preference for typing).
I was in Berlin for a couple of weeks last year and half the people I saw were wearing The North Face jackets.
Yeah, lots of North Face, Jack Wolfskin, Patagonia & Columbia. Will check out some jackets next Saturday and see if i like something. Apparently most stores do not open on Sundays here.
The North Face jackets are great looking but tbh I won’t recommended them unless he is getting their upper tier on sales.
They are more on fashionable outdoor clothing nowadays .
They went from being one of the top outdear clothing company to becoming more focussed into fashion winter clothing.
Still there summit series are upper tier stuff but on expensive side.
I find Montane ( UK) best value for money .
However, tbh with outdoor brands clothing you check the sales and you check what category of their clothes are on sales.
For example many have also fleece and down jackets for just normal day to day wears and they are more on fashion side.
Their serious stuff starts at higher level.
Like for The North Face their summit series are serious quality stuff but again expensive.
Just check which of the above brands have Good sales going on and then check for reviews or you can ask me for suggestion.
As I have used many brands mentioned above.
Personally If I was in Germany…I would try to get something like Fjallraven Barent pro hiking pants. They are tough as nails and can easily last 10 years. Made of G1000 material. Really superb quality stuff.
Noted, thanks for the suggestions.
Try to get 4711 Eau de Cologne. This is one of the legends back in the day.
The trusted brands of volksdeutsche are Hoka for shoes, Mammut for Winter wear and gear and Rimowa for luggage as all these are also vouched for by their chocolate munching, cheese making, yodelling Swiss cousins.
If you are into wet shaving check out merkur razors
Mammut is superb but never found it on sales in stores. When I was in Europe.
Though online still saw some sales. But again only on few sizes that usually do not sell easily.
And at full price it is too expensive.
$400-500 jackets easily.
EV lots of EVs.
Well, in Switzerland they are dime a dozen and when I visited Mt.Titlis, almost every other skier was sporting Mammut gear. Noticed same thing in Lauterbrunnen and Grindelwald.
thats correct because it is a Swiss brand.
And a very proud brand sponsoring many Swiss Athletes .
Anyways…I was also In Switzerland. Could not find instore sales on them. However it is easier to look on websites and compare prices and buy it .
I do have a Mammut Polartec Fleece. Will post pic tomorrow. Absolutely amazing quality gear.
