WhatsApp to only work if users have the SIM card used to sign up for the service in their device, and to log out web-based chat sessions every six hours

Will this really help them lower cyber crime and prevent SIM binding?

Soo many similar services will get effected, not sure what about bunch of handsets/computers using a single number for WhatsApp business support..

This changes will effect a mass number of people in daily life..

This Will come into effect from February 2026

What fresh retardation do we have here

True story:

Scammer called up jio customer care for e-sim conversion. Email was compromised. Otp sent to email. Scammer got the SIM. Activated gpay and withdrawn money.

Victim had no idea thinking about network loss. Stayed in his village and went farming. Thought network loss was normal (this is normal situation).

Why not make strict measures regarding this? Are we moving back to physical sim?

Really….how he activated UPI without receiving messages? Or one can activate/Login UPI on a new device without OTP ? Messages are blocked for first 24 hour……User was so dum that there is no network for 24 hours ?

In India majority of people are non-techy (you will find one in every house) and many of them have UPI activated on there mobile to meet there small/daily requirements.

These things in villages (possibly) and people there with frequent loss of internet are too naive..

With esim (since email was compromised) I assume you get access to everything.

Is esim process that easy ? No further verification required ?
As again many people dont require/use an email (even though) required compulsory with android devices.
So they have no idea, where otp goes

Still there is no clear idea, how business(s) will handle single number with multiple devices..

Thats looks fake news one cannot get hand on Esim just with the email one need the active simcard/esim to confirm the conversion/transfer of esim.

Without the physical sim, it is impossible. Might be fake. And also, it takes 24 hours, I guess, to activate.

These things change all the time. Google search results are the latest ones. Jio may have patched it after noticing scam.

Few days ago, someone’s whatsapp account was taken over. Even with the mobile no you cannot change it (Something about email recovery). There is no whatsapp customer care support for this. I had to find an email that was hidden so deep, no normal user can find this. And you can guess how long it will take.

The scammer was texting personal contacts and asking for money. Some may just send without questioning.

Edit: scammer called jio customer care. Jio Sent otp to email and activated it. There is 24hr wait time for otp. But in remote villages, network and electricity is not good. My whole town is suffering from high and low voltage. And they haven’t even fixed this in over 6 months. Now imagine the condition of the surrounding villages.

Some times restrictions are laid down by companies like Whatsapp too.
Like my other case, where i am unable to sync all messages which are 1+ years old to Whatsapp windows app..
