Windows-11 incompatible machines leading to E-waste

I just saw this community post from Gamer Nexus who is collecting data regarding the e-waste that will be generated because of Microsoft dropping support for win-10 leading to institutions trashing all those computers that can’t be updated to win-11.

Wondering if we could maybe cash in on some of these machines :stuck_out_tongue:

This company is taking on Microsoft over its decision to kill Windows 10 next month, giving you a quick fix: https://www.gbnews.com/tech/windows-10-end-of-life-backmarket-support

I saw yesterday techlinked video, riley said win7 from 2% jumped to 9% global usage.. no wonder hahah

Should be good news for home labbers. Lots of cheap machines on the market.

Though Msft has extended security updates for win10 by another 2 years. So might take some time.

Most machines will still run win10 or install linux .

This attempt by Microsoft can also be seen as an American govt push to force countries to spend more on upkeep so that their coffers can keep flowing .

Atleast in India, that would be hard. As there are still plenty workplaces using even windows 7. Plus windows 10 is still quite capable windows and Less resource consuming too. Only workplace where they care about stuff like security will make that switch which surprise surprise, most don’t.
