hi guyz!!i might replace my old 14"crt(very old daewoo) in the near future..pls suggest some gud choices in 20" or 19",,i use catia, photoshop and play games sometimes,,i am currently running on 8600GT,,will 8600gt be able to handle 20"?

also after going through various thread can realised that dell monitors are gud so went thr there site and found this model:-Dell UltraSharpTM 2009W(http://www1.ap.dell.com/content/pro...spx/monitor_2009wfp?c=in&cs=indhs1&l=en&s=dhs),how is it?price?thanx!!!

incase you do professional editing work and all in Photoshop , i would suggest you to get a non-TN panel (ie. IPS,mva etc ) cause of more accurate colours and better viewing angles.

if i am not wrong the Dell 2209WA NOT the S2209W .. is a e-ips panel .see if it fit's in your budget . no idea about the exact price ,but it should be under 20k (some people got it for 14-15k via a GO on TE.)

i have 8600gt,,i dont think would drive 22"full hd display!!would it??and secondly i dont have desk space for 22"(problem with the width) so have to settle for 20" and below:(,,btw thanx for the replies guyz!!!

hmm..8600 GT will support a full HD resolution ..but not while gaming :P

if you cant get 22" then why not settle for 19" ? it will be cheaper too ..~7k..you can use rest of the money to get a better GPU ..incase you are into gaming .

i am not sure but I havent seen "many" 20" monitors in the market.

i think a 19" monitor + GPU upgrade will be perfect .(after selling 8600GT you can a HD 4770 :P.)err but then your CPU will become a bottleneck for latest games.

you could just save the cash then.

I hav used both S1909W and E1909W...but was not satisfied. So brought an AOC 917Fwx XHD monitor. Samsung 2033W 20" LCD too is a gud option for 7.6k. 8600GT can handle these resolutions.

i am purposely going for a bigger screen bcoz on my tiny 14" while using catia all the tools cannot be seen at once!!i will check if ne1 in my acquaintance has 19"lcd to get an idea of the screen area

Getting a 20" in not advisable since the resolutions would reach 16xx which would be very difficult for the 8600GT to game on.

Get max 19" with 1440x, so that atleast it will let u play at low to medium settings and at the same time be sufficient to satisfy ur cati, photoshop and movie needs.

And all the games look just fine on widescreen. u'll hardly notice any difference et all. :cool2:
And for movies, widescreen needs no explanation.

BTW, if u can play games at really low resolutions of 1440 or 12xx on a 22", then i would definitely recommend a 22". It definitely is worth the extra, every penny of it. And if ur desk can accommodate a 20",it can definitely accommodate a 22". Check that out.:bleh:

Movies will be awesome compared to a 19". Photoshop or office applications would have lot of real space to work on. All in all everything would be great, just that u have to accomodate playing at such low resolutions...:)

For gaming dont go for 16:9 ratio. Its good for movie only. Try Dell or samsung. They are good

Who said that? :@
The old age is over mate...:bleh:

U can go for 16:9 monitors without a second thought and now all the new monitors coming would be 16:9. 16:10 is extinct so as to say.

A friend of mine is selling dell SP2008WFP with webcam etc. PM if you are interested. Where are you based?

Buying the Samsung 2233sw is awesome nowadays...
if you can put up with low res gaming for now...
once more cash comes in.. you can get a good cpu and gpu...
Moreover 2233sw will have better chances of getting exchanged for the Nvidia 3D vision recommended Samsung 2233rz... once it becomes mainstream..
Then Get a good Nvidia card and enjoy the Next Best Thing in Gaming... can never show you any video of it..:bleh: its 3D...
But you can google all the awesome reviews its getting....
I'm pretty sure it wont be a washout like PissX too...(lol PhysX for the technically correct ones)...
