I don't have much money right now, and my old Dell laptop with i5-4200U has stopped working, so I'm looking to buy a low-end Mini PC.
I inquired at a local shop and the man at the shop has a refurbished Mini PC - an HP 800 G4 Tiny PC, which has an i7-8700 CPU @ 3.20Ghz, 16 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD (of some company whose name I heard the first time today), Inbuilt speakers, Win11 (cracked version), and he is giving it to me for 22K. I said I can use my current MX500 SATA SSD, and he said then the cost comes down to 20K. I said I can do with an i5, and he said he can make changes any way I want since he is assembling the stuff, and this makes me think the maybe the HP label is fake and he has changed everything in it. I forgot to ask him about the motherboard or which company the RAM is of; I just took a screenshot of the details shown in System in Control Panel, which show i7-8700 and 16 GB RAM. The PSU is separate from the main device, maybe that is how it is with Mini PCs, and is included in the price the shop has quoted. The shop is giving the regular 1 year warranty on RAM and SSD, since only these two components are new; everything else is refurbished and has zero warranty.
From what I know, only 8th gen and above can run Win11, since TPM 2.0 is required, which means I can't go below 8th gen processors. Actually I don't know anything about processors, all I know is that i7 > i5 > i3. I've read that newer some gen i3s are comparable to older gen i7s. I don't want any latest device, just something I can use within my budget. Even my current dead laptop with i5 4200U can convert videos to HEVC using Handbrake, only it takes more time compared to newer gen processors. I've always wanted to compile my own custom ROM, and current Android versions require a minimum of 16 GBs RAM for compiling, so that is a must; even if I don't do any ROM compiling, I'd still like 16 GB RAM.
So, is the above config offered by the shop value-for-money or is it overpriced? Or can you suggest something else, within 20K? 20K is max, I'd prefer something like 17K or 18K.
Thank you.
