which shop ?
He is from Ahmedabad iirc. :)
It's sad that he posts prices to show off that he gets good deals and LOLZ at others instead of being sorry that a frnd didnt get a good deal. :(
And when he quotes prices while selling stuff on TE, we LOLZ at him. :P

Both are roughly the same speed, don't fall for the additional cache, they have nothing to do with speed. The 250GB drives were available at Ankit Infotech, SP Road, and at Computer Shop, Brigade road, a few months ago... not sure about now.

Any one can post phone numbers of these places ? Will call up and enquire....

And do the people give proper details over the phone as to the exact model number ?

there are other types of 250GB Seagate hdds and those guys wont know the damn difference.

Try these places... tell them which model# you're looking for, that way they'd at least bother to check.

Computer Shop - 41123301/25595201

Ankit Infotech - 22222354

Bangalore computers - 22998360/22998459

i just called computershop they didn't know the model number and were quoting Rs 2950 for a 250GB Seagate Sata HDD

I bought the 250Giger for a colleague recently...

Was totally surprised by the HDtach. However, my seek time was 12.9ms to be exact... I am surprised to see the 14.0+ seek times in the screenshot.

2 of these in RAID-0 will give the raptors a run for the money. However, RAID-0 is not the best solution for many reasons:

- If you change hardware often (I do.)

- Dont prefer tacky setups.

I went with a Raptor-150 (cost me Rs 8000, don't ask how) because its a single ideal drive with a low seek time (7.9ms in my case.) If you ready for a little mess, RAID-0 2 of these buggers.. create a slice out of the first 150GB of each drive, and I am talking sustained > 160MBps transfer rate combined with a 8-10ms seek time.

I urgently need to buy a 1000 or 750GB HDD... Can u guyz pls comment on the prices. I'd really appreciate ur feedback..

no one actually replied to my query here

so I thought let me raise it here..

I just wanna confirm prevailing prices for resp. HDD's I got from my Vendor at Nehru Place.

750GB

WD Caviear SE16 = 8,300.00

WD RE-2 Raid Edition = 9,300.00

1000GB

WD Caviear SE16 = 13,200.00

WD RE-2 Raid Edition = 14,400.00

Seagte = 12,400.00

Are these OK ???
