3 Idiots

I have not read Five-Point Someone, but I have read that the movie is not at all like the novel. It's very different, and I really don't think people should compare the movie to the novel unless it's an actual adaptation of the novel.
 
^^Lot of stuff in the movie is lifted from Five Point Someone. 3 friends, engineering woes, prof's daughter, prof's son suicide story, stealing papers, boozing on the top of the college, that studious guy, Raju's mom's story including the sari and maruti 800 bit, etc. Overall its FPS with a bit of a twist.

Surprisingly, there was no mention of even a thanks or credit to Chetan Bhagat even though the movie greatly resembled the story of his novel.

A good movie otherwise with some stupid scenes like the pregnancy one. Must watch.

10/10 from me.

The Rang De Basanti trio works wonders with the right director and script. Bravo acting by Boman Irani.
 
I haven't seen a better hindi movie since last 2yrs altleast..who is that actor btw who played the "silencer" character?

He has mentioned "Based on the novel Five Point Someone by Chetan Bhagat" in the credits, I remember seeing it.

"Silencer" is played by some guy named Omi. HILARIOUS and PERFECT casting for that character I felt .. even though you can't call him the lead in the movie, the movie would've been different without him.

Even though its a little "bollywood" in parts.. its surely worth a watch.
 
Damn good movie.Aamir stole the show but the others were no less.Even Kareena Kapoor gave a very good performance.Very good comedy with emotional scenes thrown in proper .places
 
Lovely movie.

For those who are particularly selective about what hindi movies they watch, go see this one and you won't be disappointed.
 
I didnt get the ham scene with "all iz well" and the baby. Seriously, there was literally no way to ruin this movie and they had to throw that in and take a huge steaming dump right on top of a surprisingly well made movie.

In any case, I would still urge you to watch the movie and ignore that scene (which you will find difficult) and continue.
 
^I think the best sequence in the movie was probably Madhavan's confrontation in front of his parents and how his parents finally accepts it.

Yeah that ^ was a bit LOL actually. In fact a bit too much of LOL. :P

TBH I was surprised how Kareena pulled out a good acting. i still cannot believe that given a good script this lady can act. :O
 
A regional news channel in AP stated that Sachin saw the movie and was soooo impressed. He is planning to show this movie to all of the Indian Cricket Team and he invited aamir to join the party.

Is this thing true?
 
hows madhavan? nobody's said anything about him,

will go on wednesday, citibank gives one ticket free on one every wednesdays!
 
@Salluks: Madhavan was brilliant and as were the other supporting casts. It's hard to credit a particular actor for their performances as everyone did a splendid job, like many said, even Kareena was good in this movie. Don't pay heed to people who are cribbing about having older actors playing collegians role, an young, in-experienced actor couldn't have done justice to the character... and as matter of fact, none of three protagonist failed to look their parts. At this age Amir is still believable as college guy. He did it once in DCH and he has done it again in 3 idiots. :)

Don't miss the start of the movie showing certain mischief/stunt/exploit of Madhavan though... superb timing and acting. :P
 
Everybody here has given a good review for "3 Idiots" hence it has to be a good movie.

I would suggest every one to not to download an illegal copy of the movie but instead go to the theaters and enjoy the movie thus doing justice even to film makers. I too will not download a pirated copy but will spend my hard earned cash in theaters.

At times i too download pirated movies cuz i dont rely on these film makers, a visit to multiplex in our area costs roughly 800-1000 for 2 people and none of the movies that released this year were worth spending that much.

But after getting the verdict for this movie i will watch it in theaters.

Will watch but will have to wait for a week for price to get reasonable...

200+ looks not worth for me as i pay 60 buks per day for internet :)
