Graphic Cards 5870 not working as expected

I was getting 55 fps in 4870 and getting 67 fps in 5870. Are this much performance gains acceptable ? These are done in crysis at 1280 x 1024 resolution with high setting.

And to add to this...
Make sure you are not running any media player in the background with video / music paused. This puts the card is high 2D clock of 600Mhz to accelerate the video content (on some brands its 400Mhz ) and causes it to be stuck there until you close media player. So that pulls down your benchmark scores substantially. So if you are using any widget to play your audio / videos, close it as well.

No extra program is installed and is not running.

What other games can you test in man ?

I would say those numbers are ok. At that resolution the 5870 might be running into a cpu bottleneck or you would have seen another 10fps maybe.

If someone else with a 5870 can redo the test at those settings would be good.

Are you running warhead or the original crysis. What patch ? This way someone else can duplicate the test.

Edit :- Oh and now since you ARE getting 57 fps drop the cpu to 2.66 and rerun the test and post results with the 5870.

as mentioned earlier at those res. the cpu will definitely bottleneck resolutions of 1280x1024 and lower are used to check cpu performance in games not gpu performance
check with 1920x1080 and report...

man this thread has put doubt in my mind. i was about to get 5870 in a week or so :(

No don't be in a doubt because i tested MSI 5870 on my rig and there is a increase of around 20fps more than MSI 4890:) i benchmarked with both the card on a single setup. so don't be in doubt and go ahead:)

^^ are you benching with Warhead or original crysis? (Let me know and I will do quick benching at 1280x1024 on my phenom 955 rig with 5870)

And yes, there will be drop is FPS in DX10 mode.

But in the case of my cousin rig he is having Phenom955 with Ati 4890 he gets better FPS in DX10 than in DX9. :hap2:

Can you please do a quick bench of crysis at 1280x1024 with high and very high setting every thing at stock no overclock. :)

I'm having the same problem with a non performing 5870. Very low scores in vantage, 06 and other benchmarks. And remains the same after a vista reinstall.
