Car & Bike 5Lakhs - Ritz / i10/ Micra?

Looking for my parents and budget is around 5L. It'd be used on-and-off or maybe for occasional weekend getaways. None of my parents knows driving (neither me) hence no way of judging by TD. Now need to rely on the opinions of others :)

Main requirements: Petrol / Good A.S.S. / Low maintenance

Current considerations (with OTR prices):
Ritz VXI - 4.8L
[+] Total VFM (looks like) / Maruti A.S.S. / Latest K series engine (if that matters) / Biggest car of the lot
[-] Maruti name

i10 1.2L Magna - 4.6L
[+] Heard lot about engine, it's peppy / Hyundai A.S.S. / Awesome interior & exterior
[-] Bit old model (I have even seen i30 :ohyeah:).. too many on the road, and that's all i can think of.

Micra - 5.3L
[+] Airbag / Aesthetic interior & exterior
[-] Latest entry in the market / Nissan A.S.S. / overshooting my budget..

I am totally confused.. I am inclined towards Micra as it'd stand out on roads :). I will go for it only if it's very good & total VFM, otherwise Ritz or i10..

Now need to strike out one of these options.. so that I can concentrate better..
 
If u like the looks of ritz then go for it otherwise go for i10 and have u consider Chevy Beat it offers a good value for money.
 
Go for the ritz or the i10, micra is not a better car when compared to the other two and also looks ugly.
 
If you guys are not going to drive, the only thing you must be looking at is how comfortable it is to be seated. And I am guessing it will be mostly the rear seats. Also, if you are looking at weekend getaways, then boot space will also come into question.

You could also consider Ford Figo and like Sumit Suggested, the Chevy Beat. Since none of you guys are going to drive, the pleasure of the Beat will be lost. It is a fantastic drivers car. The front shot gun seat is supremely comfortable, but cannot say the same of the rear seats. I am 5ft10 and I find the rear seats cramped.

The best rear seat comfort among the cars that we have been talking about is in the Ritz. Also, like you have mentioned, it is the biggest car of the lot and you cannot go wrong with the Ritz. It has a bulletproof engine. Supremely reliable.

Also, when you do learn how to drive, Ritz is the closest you can get to the Swift and the Beat in terms of sheer driveability.

And now that it has been launched, go take a look at the Etios. (Loved the interiors)

I have not taken into account the Micra is not because it is not a fantastic car, but from my experience, it is good to potter around in the city if you are driving. But as a family car with a driver, I really do not think it makes too much sense. If you plan to take the car over at a sooner date, Micra has a supremely rev happy engine (on par with the swift and the beat) and is made solidly.

Also, if you do plan to go for the Micra, go in only for the fully loaded version and not the rest.
 
i10, then consider beat, i love how green beat looks, if i had space for a hatchback i would have bought a beat for myself.
 
Looks like I need to remove Micra from my mind..

Beat - already out due to boot space & leg room :)

Figo - heard/read lot about low FE & rear window issues..

Micra definitely overshoots the budget plus A.S.S as you mentioned.

But from within this three and you dont know how to drive and you need low maintenance maruti should be the choice.I didnot got why you added maruti name as negative feature.
 
Yep.. I think Ritz would be ideal one.. and yeah its rear is bit odd & not that bad whereas i10 no doubt is an awesome car but an old-old model :)
 
I would rate the cars in this manner -
1. Ritz
2. i10
3. Micra

Ritz @ #1 position simply because it has got a Gem of an Engine (K-Series for Petrol/DDis for Diesel). The car is very good for city driving, amazing mileage. Also, you will have peace of mind with respect to the After Sales Service Network. The top end, Zxi costs around 6L onroad in Bangalore (Less than this in other places). Only suspect is probably the Build Quality from Maruti which has deteriorated over time.
i10 @ #2, basically because its a Korean :) The interiors for this Good, feels like premium car. Certainly beats Ritz. The build quality is miles ahead of Maruti. Mileage is pretty ok too. After Sales Service Network is next best after Maruthi, but the Service costs/spare costs are bit high compared to others. The Engine is good, but not comparable to Ritz.
Micra @ #3, New car, Not sure how it has performs in real world. After Sales will certainly not be as good as the two ablove. If you live in a Metro, might not be a concern. Also not sure about the Spare parts costs/Service costs. But, the build quality and the interiors is good.
So, upto you. Test drive these cars, go for the one which you feel more comfortable with.
 
Ritz... It is what you say Hero Honda Splendor of the Hatchback market. Fill it-Shut it-Forget it. Also you might consider the Polo, it's built like a tank, awesome build quality, a decent engine, looks hot in Red has that "don't mess with me" look.. the VW name says and sums it all...
