Guys,

One of my friends back @ the hostel has an ASUS motherboard;
For some reason he did something yest nite and then called me up to his room n then I found out tat he's damaged a pin on the mobo.. :@

Just one of the pins and it looks very odd from the usual pattern;

I tried my best and then corrected it using the tip of the pin; At least I feel, I've done the right thing.

But he doesn't want to put back the processor and then end up frying it up.

Did anyone hav any problems like these before??

Can the board be RMA'd???

Thing is its an ASUS.. So Rashi.. :(

Pl help guys..

try fixing up the pin urself... and make sure the level of that pin is as same as other and it shall work. if more then 2-3 pins wud have bent, ur mobo wud have screwed :P

Twas jus one pin.. I wonder how it hpnd..

He's in despair so i didnt ask anything else..

I did it later with a mechanical pencil with no lead.. But still it appears odd to look..

However it has alligned itself.. he doesn want to RMA the thing cos of time delay n stuff...

the service guys at the rashi .. use big lenses to check whether there is any physical damage on the product or not ? ..and not just one guy ..it goes through a series of different people .. seems very funny ..:rofl:

:bleh: asus ppl will throw it back saying "physical damage" ......if u have managed to strighten it out using the pin then there should not be a prob....

find out the most noobish comp store in town..sell dat mobo...argue like hell for price coz den he will feel da mobo is okay and get something else...

I have an Intel motherboard with one bent pin, but I aligned it with a sharp needle, and after that, mobo works like a charm, no problem at all during 2 years.

I have done this twice :P

The second time, the pin actually broke. I got it soldered at a cell phone repair shop and the proccy is working flawlessly.

The first time the proccy pin got bent, I used a compass (the one you get in geometry boxes) to straighten it and it worked fine for almnost 3 yrs until I did it again :P

The only difference is yours is on the mobo. There shouldnt be any problem man....

^^I still have an Athlon 2600+ (socket A) with a pin broken off. Working fine without the pin. Being used only for net and stuff. Mebbe it'll cause probs in CPU intensive programs but as of now, serving my purpose quite well :)

I say u fix it urself, and don't think to give it to rashi for rma i'm trying to get
my mobo fixed from rashi for the past 3 mnths. But seems the lamers are giving me back the mobo without repairing........ And this time its the forth time i'm giving it to them...........

hah, slap the processor on. If the processor gets fried which is highly unlikely, it will be easier to get it rmaed than the motherboard :P

Not much to worry about here. Just pop in the processor and check.

Just use that mobo..I bent arnd 7 or 8 pins of my Athlon 3000+ (fell from my hand when cleaning).I just straightened them all and its still working great...no problem whatsoever

Yup will do tat else will try tat with a cheapo Celeron proccy n see if its working..

N hows it tat the processor will easier to get RMA'd???

Wat is Intels policies abt 'frying' the proccy by a highly unlikely chance??

moral issues aside, both Intel and AMD RMA is fast, swift and no stupid questions asked.
If your CPU does not have any obvious physical damage like knocked out smd component or physical burn marks, they wont ask questions. You dont have to even go to your dealer. The file the RMA through email. Make sure you have the original heatsink. They will send the bluedart to pickup the processor from you and deliver brand new chip to you with a week ( even week is stretching it. I got my A64 replaced in 4 days flat ) delivered directly to you.

Cool thanx.. He has his original hsf.. so we'll try with the E6750 itself..

Damn he's left for home yest.. :P

OK ..... Let me make a note of all the people with bent and fixed pins on their CPU/MoBo's so I do not buy them from the market section :tongue:
