Car & Bike A Gearless Scooter for a Newbie!

From current gen gearless scooters, the ones to consider are the aviator, wego and the access.

The front suspension on the activa is older generation while all the newer ones have better ride quality with a telescopic front suspension.

The access has the biggest engine, but not the most refined one, and 15cc etc doesn't make or break the deal :)

The wego is the only one with 12" tyres Front and back. The aviator has 12" front, while the access is smaller 10". Bigger tyres allow for better handling and ride quality.

The aviator is the only one with a disc brake option.

I would say the top 2 options should be between the aviator and the wego.

the main differences between activa and dio are entirely cosmetic.. both have the same engines and specs.

both have their pros and cons.

dio looks more sporty while activa has a bit of a domesticated look..

dio has an entire plastic body while activa has metal body which makes the dio lighter than the activa.. but, there is no significant difference between the fuel efficiency of both.

I personally find the activas riding position more relaxed and comfortable compare to the dio.

^ Thanks friend for the very good comparison. This has put me back to square-one. I will do the test drive of Wego and take the decision.

@techie_007.. yeah

I am considering Aviator/Wego

But Wego was the choice ,as Aviator has a higher seating position and masculine body, which my sister didn't like much!

Whats the difference between activa and dio.

Aviator have high specs.

Dio looks almost similar to activa and lookwise more catchy.

And also how much will be the waiting?

How about the new Mahindra Duro Diesel

I have just heard about it and dont know whether it is available or not, but if it is then its surely gonna be very cheap considering your usage and the difference between petrol and diesel prices

CHarun its DZ not diesel.Even i was confused first.

If in mobikes Diesel comes dont you think half the bike population will run for the cheaper fuel?

I have used Wego as well as Activa.... Wego is a good mileage vehicle and its also a very sturdy bike, good balance. Since you mentioned you are new to riding 2 wheelers. Activa is fun to ride and it also has a good balance but not that much compared to Wego. It has a decent mileage too.

My personal suggestion would be to go with Wego since you and your sis are new to riding 2 wheelers. Hope it helped.

i personally would not give up the honda engine...

Royal enfield used to have a diesel bullet, but because of the nature of diesel engines and the requirement of heavy duty parts, diesel engines could not become too popular in the small displacement bike engines..

but i still seriously hope, some company comes out with a diesel variant, diesel engines have come a long way since the time when diesel royal enfield bullet was available and when it got discontinued...

^^^^nice.. its good to have niche information like this.... i remember riding on a diesel bullet which belonged to my elder brothers friend.. big bloody engine.. there were problems, speed not more than 50 to 60.. pick up quite less (common problems with older diesel engines) but quite smooth low rpm riding..... but now that diesel engines have progressed so much with their inline technology eliminating starting problems, turbos boosting the power so much that people are literally forgetting petrol engines.. i think its time some bike manufacturer gives serious thought to a commercial version of a diesel bike.. .if one comes out ideally as required, diesel bikes might even make the most practical touring bikes on the road.. and then the concept of low rpm high torque touring bikes will no longer be a dream for the people who cant afford those large displacement twin cylinder powerplant bikes....

today, the concept of touring bikes just mean low rpm torque delivery for cruising at high speeds with lower rpms.. but to deliver that kind of torque, it also means large displacement engines with lower fuel economy.. ..

with practical diesel bikes, the whole concept of touring bikes will be redefined.. it will not only mean low end torque delivery and capability of high speed cruising, but will also mean much lower cost per kilometre with the kind of fuel economy a diesel engine is able to deliver..

today, when people talk touring, they dont consider the fuel efficiency of the bike.. because as soon as touring comes to mind, the first ideal bikes that are talked about are either the Royal enfields or the next step which is way too big with the harley davidsons..

introducing economical diesel engines will give a whole new perspective to touring motorcycles especially for a country like India.

i guess.. i have deviated too much from the topic started in this thread..
