there is a proverb in gujarati

"Surat nu Jaman ane Kashi nu Maran"
Translation
The food of Surat and Death at Kashi are two ultimate things a person can achieve.

An open invite to all Teits to come and enjoy gujju delicacies in surat. :D

@Gannu - which sweet snack? Gujjus are more famous for the savoury dishes - patra, kachori, dhokla, fafda, khakra etc.

Not referring to a specific snack but most curries and dishes seems to be sweet compared to similar preparations elsewhere. Eg. Dal is sweet. Sambar served with idlis (not a gujju snack though!) is sweet.

JM2C heh. :P

Khaman Dhokda is yum, but have you guys tried "vagaarelaa dhokda" ? :P I absolutely love it!

Ene toh Chundo kehvai.

My fav farsan is "Paatodi" and "Iddla", green chutney sathe.

:P

Next surat meet, we gonna have all this.

Ahh. come one guys . traditional gujarati sweet dal that we eat with rice everyday is not that bad. You guys should try it.

^ Aah, but where I come from (the land of the five rivers), we usually tend to favor spicy food with not so sweet dals :D
