I don't like Dhokla either. Most of the time it's too dry and crusty.

Which type?
Khaman or the normal khatta dhokla?

@Gannu - which sweet snack? Gujjus are more famous for the savoury dishes - patra, kachori, dhokla, fafda, khakra etc.

Dhoklas can be either hard or slightly soft. They are much more... the word would be 'crumbly' than Khaman. Khaman is very soft. You usually have Khaman with a yellow chutney and raw papaya salad and those fried green chillies that go with 'dalwadas' as well. Khaman is also sweetish while dhoklas are not, they are often sprinkled with red pepper powder.

there is a proverb in gujarati

"Surat nu Jaman ane Kashi nu Maran"
Translation
The food of Surat and Death at Kashi are two ultimate things a person can achieve.

An open invite to all Teits to come and enjoy gujju delicacies in surat. :D
