Hey guys I am having lenovo s9 netbook with 512mb ram and 80gb hdd. I was thinking will windows 7 run on it or not. So today I thought lets find it myself and I installed 32-bit version. Setup took only around 18-20minutes to complete. And what I came to know it runs even better than xp in this netbook with aero theme disabled and slightly slow with aero theme enabled(very less difference). And I now love my netbook even more than before. It gave following rating to my netbook :-
Processor: 2.2
Memory(RAM): 2.9
Graphics: 5.9
Gaming graphics: 3.0
Primary hard disk: 5.5
I am now really enjoying it very much than before.
Plz if anyone of u has too tried to install this windows in his netbook then do share ur experience with me.

7 works better than XP on my EEEPC 1000H and some other models of EEPCs ( owned by ppl I know). Most of us are running on 2GB RAMs, though. How's your power consumption? All of us have seen a drop of arnd 15/20 % on battery backups.

I'm having only 512mb ram then also its running very fine. For power consumtion I cant say right now but will defiantely let u know according to my experience in a day or two.

Thats news to be. Whats the latest stable build of the OS. Will download the same as i am planning to format my lappy soon.

Heh heh, this is not one of those Indian forums where a thread with more comments or replies is given any higher rating than a thread with few replies, so no need for thanking me :)

What matters is sharing of knowledge, mindless comments and posts be damned :ohyeah:!

@Switch, the RC release is the latest afaik. Dunno about regular lappies, but the power drain is quite high on all the atom netbooks I've seen. Not an issue with the Asus netbooks having at least 5Hrs+ backups (mines a 9.5Hr rated backup down to >7Hrs) but on a regular lappy...
 
Guys, going a bit OT here but what graphics driver have you peeps installed on the Netbooks? I've an Atom combo here running Win 7 32bit RC7100 but unable to find a graphics driver for it. Hence the desktop looks weird. :(

Try installing the latest graphics driver available at your manufacturer's site.
Like my netbook is Lenovo S9 so I downloaded drivers from Lenovo select a country/region
But I think it don't demands any driver. For me it worked just after installing os only. Maybe u can try to update ur windows since it can also download latest drivers for all ur devices on its own.
 
thnx Mayank for making this thread bcoz by sharing ur experience with win 7 on 512mb ram gave me confidence to try it on my systm too hving 512ram...
 
after using windows 7, vista looks like crap and xp looks like living in village

it's the best product from MS after XP IMO
 
Guys what build of Win 7 are you using there have been releases after RC1 too should one get that or the RC1 , and how long will these release work.
