hi all,
Myself is planning to buy a car in few months.Details :
1. Budget 3-4 lakhs.
2. would be economical.
3.would be spacious /can seated for 5 ppls in all

waiting for yours reply

I am for Hyundai Santro Eco...Runs on LPG/CNG..Spacious compared to the peers..Easy to get that serviced...Low on maintenance. Decent resale value so far. decent mileage in the class...If you can strech check for an i10..interiors are great :)

My vote for an Indica / Indica Vista . Both cars are damn spacious. will seat 5 people with ease, and the diesels are very cheap to run and have decent resale

problems - after sales service not as good as maruti/hyundai, petrol indicas are not very fuel efficient/ have bad resale, engines are not very refined , and the interior plastics are not very high quality. But you really do get more car per car :D

I myself own an Indica turbo :)

thanks alot for everyone for yours overwhelming responses.I could streach my budget till 4.5 at max..

@krishna.. How abt i10 or i20???

i20 starts at 5.5 lacs for base model. Best to get the i10. The car is decently spacious. Has a lovely gear box and is fuel efficient to boot.

If you have a high running, get a diesel car like the Indigo CS DICOR. I believe it will come to 4.5 lacs only.

both are good cars, great engines, even better interiors. Getting 5 people into an i10 might be a bit hard. and the i20 should be out of your budget. on the other hand i believe the getz is now available starting from 4 ex showroom, which should make it Just about fit within 4.5L OTR

How about new FIAT palio multijet. It's engine is good and can accomodate 5 easily. Though it's ASS no good.
As already suggested by Greeny My vote goes to Indica Vista.Offcourse i10/i20 are best as overall packadge but will be an overkill on ur budget if you try to go over basic models.

IMO get Vista and spend remaining+money on good audio system

Dont go for the Palio. It's a fantastic car with pathetic after sales service. Go for the Getz. Really decent car.

Ritu,

Here is my view....

Any TATA cars...I have my own thoughts on the build quality and engine over a period of time. Their engines are not that silky to own..Basically any diesel engine in the segment that you are trying to buy one from (Swift is an exception) though. Hey...I am not a TATA detractor anyways..I love Safari DICOR...As far as i20 is concerned it will not fit in your budget...i20 Magna 503028 exsho Mumbai ...Palio as rightly pointed out has issues with CS...Despite the fact TATA is handling it I still have friends who are not that excited abt the service. Also Linea is not in this segement if I am not wrong. i10 would be perfect for you, if you can strech the budget. i10 Kappa Sportz AT GLS(Metallic) would cost you 485669 (Approx ex,showroom Mumbat (incl Octroi) + Plus registration, Taxes and insurance (abt 10% of the price)...If you can afford this budget and want a diesel car best suggestion is Maruti Swift :)

hey a small question...does the customer service really matter that much as mentioned by some of the members here?..or is it a big exagerrated ....

yup, its a big part of the ownership experience. Especially with manufacturers like fiat and skoda, the worse cases can make your ownership experience a living nightmare. Even with tata/ford etc it still can get pretty bad. but their products are bought by people who cant get maruti/hyundai/toyota products because of various constraints.

Maruti/hyundai and toyota probably have the best A.S.S. you cant go wrong with them :)

honda is not AS good. the fact they're a premium brand has gone to the dealers heads and they've started to act as if the customers are at their mercy. better than tata/ford etc, but not as good as maruti/hyundai

dude the guy wants to fit 5 adults. hard to do in the spark, impossible in an A star :P

wagon R probably could fit, not sure about the i10
