what a utter crap, just read what you have posted again.....

1) House Rent is not cheap in India too when compared to income.
2) We have VAT and other taxes as well on everything we purchase.
3) What do you mean by how many of us pay our taxes? Every/almost every service class people have to pay taxes to the same tune of 10-30% you are talking about.

So come again, how much percentage of your salary do you pay for rent and internet?
+1 agree
yea

Cheers guys, the 5 page debate was not waste. article got published:hap2:

The article says it all, some major points that not on TOI website. Read below:

The Digital Divide

Broadband services in five developing countries, all comparable to india in terms of cost and speed.

  • Pakistan: Rs1,999 buys you a 4mbps no-strings-attached broadband plan
  • Brazil: A 2mbps unlimited connection comes in at roughly Rs1,450. Spend Rs1,000/- more an 8mbps connection
  • South Africa:Telekom sells unlimited 4mbps plan around 2,400
  • China: An Unlimited 2mbps connection cost just Rs1050. No FUP
  • Poland: A 30mbps connection for just Rs1,785 per month

looks like even Pakistan is better than India when it comes to broadband :@
