A-VO-ID: Do a minimum RC of Rs.35 per 28days or No outgoing calls (Even with Main Balance!)

How bad is the spam on JIO prepaid? The data connection on Vodafone has become unreliable and I am considering inserting a JIO SIM in the second slot.

I have an airtel prepaid, but it looks like Airtel has sold my number to every telemarketer in town. I can't put it my main phone.
Well its not airtel its either you or someone form your circle. Either you might have unknowingly/innocently shared your no. on some sites/profiles/services/malls etc. or by your friends might have provided in pretext of some references.

I too want to use my docomo but as soon as I turn on the sim, I'm greeted with at least 15 spam messages ranging from real estate, credit card, loans, servicing to dating and parlor services. To add I'm already on Full DND since very long ago.
Reporting every individual sms to the operator is too illogical and painful as the senders change their messaging nos quite often.

I somehow managed to contact few spammers and they told that somebody has shared/ referred your no. with us and even they dont know who that somebody is/ or dont want to reveal. Though thankfully they removed my no. from their list.
Nor porting is gonna stop this shit. The only reason I'm still retaining this no. is because it is indeed a very golden vip no. which I chanced upon luckily.
So I only recharge it to keep it alive thats it. Zero usage.

I thought tele marketers are supposed to check with the NDNCR before contacting a potential lead. So if you've registered for full DND and still receive calls, trai will have to take action against the tele marketers and/or operator.

Speaking of Vodafone speed, just this morning i had tested phenomenal 3g speed and not bad 4g. But around 2pm, i was trying to renew my home broadband connection. I wasted around an hour trying and ended up calling a friend and asking him to do it for me. Speed i was getting at that time was around 25kbps. Couldn't even open the web page properly. They should shut down, pack up and quit already.

If only lacs of vodafone customers bombard their twitter page at one go they will either wake up or pack up their bags for good!
I dont get the logic that even though idea-voda has merged still idea is providing seamless services and their services hasn t got affected but look at vodafone, it has emerged as the most pathetic networks on India now.
So was the merger only a money deal at the cost of quality service?
I actually bombard their cc, chat and even nodal officers with literally profane language I can get to but they are really shameless idiots and b**ches and in the end we ourselves feel embarrassed.

In fact Aircel, uninor, telenor were way too decent in their days than this bloody shit telecom.

It has been quiet some time I'm thinking to port to something better even if they loot me for a couple of bucks I'm A OK but I want real quality service for what I pay. I dont have that much time to go the porting way and afford to keep my no. barred for next 24-48hrs during the process, this thing is delaying my plans...

Porting doesn't bar your number for that long. At most it's a couple hours in the night, and then you swap sims.[DOUBLEPOST=1547138143][/DOUBLEPOST]At least, that's how it used to be. These days...

Well doesn't Google have to push the update first, for Vodafone to initiate the VoLTE support? Or the other way around? Not sure!

Testing/Certification needs to be done by the operator and not the manufacturer. I believe that's why USA phones which are not certified dont get VoLTE here. I am sure @kuduku can explain better than me on this...[DOUBLEPOST=1547173692][/DOUBLEPOST]

For me some 2 hours or so....

Wow, that's really surprising! My earlier statement was a joke, but have they really done testing with all the local devices in that case? Mi is one of the most popular brands online, so that's almost a given.

Got a JIO Sim. Speed measurements from inside my apt. The top two are Jio readings. The bottom two are Vodafone's 4G.

I was wondering why I didn't do this sooner. I like Vodafone's upload speeds though :)

I took these measurements at 11:30 PM. Will see how things are in the daytime when I actually need it.

May be not the right thread to ask but I am confused about few things w.r.t my Vodafone connection. I don't use my India number since I am currently out of the country. In order to keep number active, I would recharge with 222 or 500 (not sure exact amount) every time when balance would drop as a result of me making a less than 1 min call to keep the number active (cost of call is 70 Rs). Now recently, I started getting these messages that unless I do this validity recharge, my outgoing will be blocked which happened so I had to start doing the 35 Rs min recharge to enable outgoing again.
Now with my previous full talk time recharges and this recent 35 Rupees recharge, I currently have around Rs. 500+ prepaid balance.

Now I am coming to India soon and would want the service to work for a month. Will need the data and all too. Is there anyway to use this Rs. 500 balance to recharge for some plan or I have to separately pay for those plans (I am not very much aware about new plans which gives one unlimited calls, lots of sms and 1+ GB Data per day) .
If I have to pay separately for those plans, then does this mean that the Rs. 500 balance I have is almost never used ?
ask someone to port your no. to bsnl. you generate port out code while abroad. (might be difficult when you are abroad ).

Spam is not that bad, enable DND. Airtel is bad, inspite of DND getting calls.

JIO gave me the first scare today. At about 1 PM, I wanted to look something up and the mobile reports "No service" on JIO SIM. Wouldn't even let me make a call. I was at the same spot at which I got 25 Mbps rate at 1 AM.

The Vodafone, though slower, was working.

I guess I wouldn't be porting my number anytime soon.

EDIT: Things are back to normal now.

Must have been a random event. Jio is generally stable. Not like a year or two ago. I do have a random issue though. Sometimes it would show normal signal but no calls would go out or come in. A flight mode toggle or restart would fix this. But there was no way of knowing that your phone was incommunicable. And it's not just my phone, another friend had the same issue a couple times. Still way way better than the shit that is vodafone right now.

Jio gave me the first scare when I was in north india, with full signal, no calls. Data also was shit. Later on came to know there was an issue there. However, on a reliabilty scale, Jio still is prefered vs Failtel or Chorphone.

First hand experience and graph ranging [based on network signal for basic services] goes this way. {Averagely}

Based on me and peoples feedback around for Maharashtra, goa, Gujarat, mp, andhra zone.

For major cities/towns: jio, airtel, bsnl, idea, vodafone

Out of cities: bsnl/ airtel, idea, jio, vodafone

Remote places: bsnl, airtel, idea, vodafone

Negligible zones: bsnl, airtel

JIO is weaker than Vodafone, at least in my case (area)

just need to shut main door and JIO become dead (No Network), while Vodafone keep going....

I really appreciate the way you worked it out..
We should have all tried same way to make this thread since start..

@nRiTeCh if you can take authority to start a new topic where everyone can vote on multiple zones/cities for networks (top 5) we can discuss. hopefully if site authorities can help too.

JIO worked for me everywhere in west including Raj, Guj, Mah, MP, GOA, Kar (50%), UP, bihar.. was in major cities mostly..

I dont think voting or poll will be a viable option as it will be huge and complex. And per recent observations people are hardly interested into voting etc. So it might waste + the efforts.
My survey was based on 18-20 people around me from different regions which helped to conclude on these statistics.
If you want to start a new thread I can assist you with poll options etc. just like jointly creating a thread.

Guys a quick query. I'm on Vodafone postpaid and now between my billing cycle I have to mnp and I stay in different city so is it possible over the fly without actually visiting my city outlet?
What happens to my deposit amount? How it will get refunded?
And I will be going from postpaid to prepaid from city to city so is it going to be a complex transition?
