Hi gang, i bought an XFX 8600 GT 256 mb DDR3 card today. Problem is, when i connect my monitor to it, it does not turn on, but keeps blinking. My computer specs are below -
A64 3200+
A8N VM mobo
1gb DDR 400 ram
Mercury 400w smps

There is no wierd boot up sound and the fan on the card starts up normal.
Any ideas on why it is not working? Could it be coz of the SMPS?. But how come the fan is running fine?. I tried connecting to IGP and also my 7200 GS, both are working fine.

Cheers

Dont have another comp to check and yes the fan spins alright.
No weird booting sounds, so assuming its placed in the pcie slot correctly.

i dont think the PSU can be too much of an issue..i ran the 8600GT ona similar setup, a 3500+ , a8n-vm , 2x300GB and stuff, ran perfectly....test the card on another system....

Yes and if it doesn't work...try to get a new one straightaway since it was dead on arrival. Dont loose any time.

what was bios revision of that mobo....

im afraid:S ....do older mobo bios support dx10 offerings:huh:

since i also have a gigabyte 939 6150/430 board having bios dated sept 2006,i have asked gigabyte would my mobo support new dx10 cards??

@TS try updating ur mobo bios to newest one

Took it to the dealer and got it checked. Apparently it was not fitting properly earlier into the pcie slot. Weird coz there was no beeps while booting and the fan was running well.

It works, and man....what a difference !!

Neverwinter nights 2 earlier on my 7200 GS , all settings low, 1024 resolution gave me 10-12 fps, now with everything high, same resolution, im getting 44ish :D:D:D

Thanks for the help, all.
