Hi All,

A friend of mine getting this cycle. Montra Rock. Local purchase for 14k.

Any suggestion, opinions?

How many kilometer daily he want to ride?..

What's the condition of road in his area?..

His height, bike frame size?

Ask him this question and post here...

umpteen brands and models in the mkt! hence, you will have to ask him a few questions and then post his replies for us to suggest anything. budget is one such critical point. assuming his budget to be 15-20k, a RockRider 5.0/5.1 would be good, or, if open to purchasing a used bike, then even a Trek 3500. also, ask him to check for models of the brand Rock Machine at stores in Mysore. if you wish to know about a specific store there, then allow me some time.

Hmm. He has no clue regarding cycles, nor do me. So please consider the request as such.
 
even i checked, and found a good feedback on Montra Rock. the best part of it that i liked was, that its an Indian brand! so since they are apparently producing bikes of good standards to cater to international market as well, i think we should encourage them. tell your friend to go ahead with that bike (a trial-ride would be good first). :)

another option for ~15k is Axis A-50, or if he wishes to get a road-bike, then one of them is LA Sovereign Ultima 700C (drop-bars can be added), and probably some model for Schwinn as well, under 15k. however, can't comment on availability. since Montra Rock is available, and he has seen it, it would be better to go ahead with it.

P.S. - A good bicycle-store at Mysore is Sharada Cycle Store, near Clock Tower. their service is good.
