Hey guys I would be needing accommodation on rent for about 3 months in mumbai. In or near Bandra. What can I expect in terms of rent and ease of getting some place.

It can vary from single to 4 people in all. Since I have no clue at all, any and all suggestions welcome. :cool2:

lol property dealers will suck you dry and take all your money...

welcome to mumbai...

try property dealers seems to be only way

15K around 1BHK Khar West( starts from 12K upto 1Lac for bandra)

10K to 12 K for Kahr East

If you donot care where you live Mahim (dirty polluted compared to khar and bandra )again next to bandra will be much cheaper i think 8 to 10k

Now the best thing of them all The above rates are for 1 month... donot includes 2 months brokerage and advance deposit for flat....

Best Of Luck....... Good Old Mumbai Suburbs....

peace

raj

^You really haven't travelled with the NCR autowallahs, have you? They make the Mumbai autowallahs look like novices.

Eggjachtly! :P

@ nuke - NCR= National Capital Region (Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad, Ghaziabad..)

lol.. I don't know about Mumbai Auto wallas since I never went there, but Delhi ones take you for a royal ride even before you board their auto. More so the foreigners or even people from south India are prime targets.

I have seen one Auto walla asking 900 Rupees of a foreigner for taking him from Nehru Place to ISBT. That foreigner's attire was screaming that he be taken for a ride. He had a rather *innovatively* colored shirt and shorts and a hat with all kinds of fruits on top of it (With that kind of hat, he does not have to worry about lunch or dinner).

That foreigner seemed to have mentally calculated in terms of dollars and then just not to be left behind, bargained for 800 bucks and got in.  Must have been thinking how cheap it is in India.

bandra is an expensive place to live but one of the coolest spot in the city.
ease of getting to other places is very good... if you coming for work related job , where will you be working in mumbai so that we can guide you better.
rent wise , its between the suburban and town rates like the actual areas :D

Yeah job related work. Would be working in Bandra thats why I asked. It all depends on the cost analysis whether staying closer and paying more rent OR staying far and paying for travel works out cheaper.

Add to that the fact that I hate commuting by public transport on a regular basis. :ashamed: But lets discount that for the moment.

not very helpful but try to get a group of 4/5 to share a 2bhk flat ren.. the rentals in bbay are really too insane to stay single .. otherwise you ll probably get a place you wont be comfortable with..

Well the rates in Bandra are pretty high.
Going up north would mean more painful travel for you since you havent stayed in Mumbai and it would take quite sometime getting used to the idea of hanging out of the train for life every morning to go to work.

Thus, looking at some other cheaper alternatives like suggested above...places like Mahim, Matunga, Parel(??) are cheaper but are further away from Bandra. I have been travelling to Bandra daily in the mornings for my coll and it takes me about 1.5 to 2 hrs one way. But thats not the matter.

As also suggested above, 4 ppl sharing a flat is good. However be prepared to shell out atleast 10k per person per month for a decent place. I could also try and find out the exact rates for u if u wish. Also please state the duration ( as in which month to which month ) would u be there.

Apart from this, sometimes the place u r working for also have arrangements in terms of some settlement with rental agencies for their employees who are short term or on probation. You could enquire about the same too.

40k ? my cousin was renting a flat for around 16k last time.. somewhere behind the domestic airport maybe ren can go for something like that

Alright so can I get a 3BHK for around 25K? If not then for how much and how far would that place be from bandra.
