dude this 5536 is a waste of money. go for the 5738. its only slightly more costly than this & blows the 5536.

Acer Home

my friend recently bought the 5738 for 33.5k. it also comes with a bluray reader. its got core2duo & 3gb ddr3 memory. 320gb hdd.

Intel® C2D T6400 (2 MB L2 cache, 2.0 GHz)/ Intel GM45Chipset / 3 GB RAM / 15.6" HD / DVD Writer/ 320 GB HDD / BlueTooth/ MultiCard Reader / Gigabit LAN / WebCam/ 4 x USB Ports / Dolby Stereo Speakers/HDMI/ FPR /6 Cell/ VHP / 1Yr/CC

if you want the gfx card then get the 5738G which comes with the g105 nvidia card & costs around 4k more. it also includes 4gb ddr3 memory compared to 3gb on the 5738.

Can you confirm the battery life from your friend , also does the 5738z have a blu-ray drive? , their site doesnt mention a blu-ray drive for any of the models

I will ask my friend about it & let you know. but considering they have 6cell, you cant expect wonders.

here is the battery life test from techtree for a 5738z.
Test 1:

Here we used the notebook on Balanced mode with WiFi on and the screen brightness set to medium. Eco mode was switched on so this should emulate an ideal scenario where one may be sitting at home and working on the notebook.
In this test we were able to squeeze out 4 hours and 15min of work time along with a little music and videos playing in the background. This is a very good backup time for this notebook if you consider the screen size.

Test 2

For our second test we used BurnInTest program to stress test the Notebook. Here we still used High Performance power profile but with Eco mode off. The Notebook died after 1hr 30min which again is very good for the larger screen size.

and in that test , Intel's T3200 which you can find on almost all 30k notebooks outperforms both by a comfortable margin , so AMD's offerings seem pretty unimpressive

I have to buy a laptop myself and am considering this , 29k seems to good a price whats worrying though is that some reviews say Acer laptops have bad battery life , anybody has any experience with their battery life ?

The Acer 5738z has a pretty impressive battery life.

dude what are you going on about? have you lost it.

yes the z has the t4200. t4200 is the same t6400. both are penryn 45nm. only diff is the 1mb cache.

dont go by the stupid marketting terms saying t4200 is dual core & t6400 is c2d. both are from the same family. if u google & check the specs on the intel site you will find out.

* i have to confirm about bluray. its printed on the laptop. but site says optional. i will try n find a bluray movie n tell my friend to check it.

but even if it doesnt have the bluray reader it is still worth it for the price.
