ACT Fibernet upgrades and Extra bonus 2019

Right. But the installation people had already clipped the wires by then and started removing the switch box by themselves. I should have still stopped it but what can I do now. I guess others should be more alert of this. Surely the ACT representative should have talked in detail about the work involved, I never thought they'd go this far in free installation

Anyway I did mail the nodal authority though it seems they are off on weekends. I hope I can get connection given through another backend, since many in Delhi are getting good connection through ACT. The problem seems to be with Tata.

That's strange. They did a pretty neat and quick job of installing the ONT and routing the Cat 6 at my place in Delhi, as well as a friend's place, although I did supervise every bit of it including the drilling. And I had it connected via a plug to a separate socket in my balcony. Maybe they wanted to connect it directly to the line at yours, as they might have encountered users knowingly or unknowingly switching off the supply to the shared ONT!

Also, you might have to remind them of the 100/- power discount for the first couple of bills or so, as they tend to forget including it in the normal billing.

Hope your speed issue gets sorted, as I've encountered decent speeds with them even to international servers and with actual downloads, not just speedtest.

The people that came to install looked like common electrician types. Though I'm seeing a lot of other people are saying theirs is connected to wire. But found it dirty that they didn't inform me. I will check with their CC if it is possible with plug.

After complaint, speed tests to speedtest.net did improve, though still not as good as yours and I'm still getting lag in browsing several sites. Tried a torrent with seeders outside India and getting around 40mbps. I don't know how much problem is there with the routing and how to check it for sure.

Can you try these and check DL speed:
http://www.azurespeed.com/Azure/Download (Check with US server, getting around 6.5 mbit/s here)
http://www.speedtest.com.sg/ (do the file download, getting around 20-25 mbit/s here)
https://speed.hetzner.de/ (getting around 10mbit/s here)

Also post your tracert to comcast.net if you are getting good speed. I want to know for sure if my connection routing is problematic with both ACT and Hathway or this is the best internet we can get here. I thing it is capped somewhere because I always get almost same speed in file download tests.

You did these speedtests around 4:30 in the morning. so not a big deal. Do it during the day times.

True that. Its a bit more erratic, with ups and downs, during the day, but still pretty decent. Also, I did it when I make use of the internet the most, so works for me in a way :)

http://www.azurespeed.com/Azure/Download 40-50 Mbps from California
http://www.speedtest.com.sg/ 100-110 Mbps
https://speed.hetzner.de/ A little bit too erratic, but hovered between 30-60 Mbps

Also, I mostly use a download manager for file downloads, as I've never gotten good speeds with browser downloads even to domestic hosted sites. As for the general lag in browsing, are you using the default ACT DNS? It made a difference for me when I switched from ACT to OpenDNS.

Note: If you are on a fixed plan of 6 months or 12 months (410 or 650), You will not be upgraded to the new plans, Until you pay the difference amount!

ACT Hyderabad has upgraded all plans again. The 1050 plan now offers 600 GB from earlier 250GB. I need to downgrade as I do not use that much.
Much needed. Other ISP's are offering a lot of FUP now a days and Uploads don't go above 15-20% of the total usage!

No Announcement from the ISP to the customer though!!

what a stroke of luck! I was about to shift to excitel this month but postponed it to next month because ACT gave 250GB extra last month (for IPL streaming supposedly)

Now they upgrade the data. 600gb is more than enough for me and my family usage

Best thing about ACT is they do the last minute trouble shooting. But still Delhi has those two better plans. I envy

Excell broadband is spending decent amount of money expanding their infrastructure in Hyderabad to combat ACT and Excitel. Their service is decent only according to pals.

Thanks for testing. I tried using IDM and get 30-40 Dl from American, around 60-70 mbps from Singapore server. Yesterday it was raining and strangely I was getting 15-20 mbps on Speedtest on both servers but 40 and 60 while DLing from IDM. Maybe speedtest is not accurate always. I also am not sure if getting lower speeds without IDM is bad, maybe it could affect stuff like image loading.
Can you test from https://testmy.net/ selecting American server? it seems to give the speed I am getting while doing straight DL.

Though results have improved as I got around 10mbps a few times when I first got connection. But still, they are not nearly as good as yours even off peak times. I think it might be something to do with Tata as mine is routed different

Maybe others having problems with Tata might be also going through this route?
That aside, my browsing issues (slow image loading) might be due to server issues having checked again with MTNL and Airtel 4G.

Overall, I'm OK with the connection for now. It hasn't had outage. Though vimeo is not loading for me from yesterday despite trying with other DNS(loading fine on Airtel 4G). It seems problem with Tata as problem seems to happen after packet is gone from ACT.

Also I'm not sure if the box outside is completely safe, it got wet yesterday though I think they'd install a shade if it was an issue.

1049*12+6months free = 12588/18 = 699. M**C***

lol. every city seems to have better plans than hyderabad when It comes to ACT plans
Chennai has Hathway,Cherrinet and the likes! Hyderabad doesn't have Terabyte FUP providers.

Notice the plans above 1299, 1GB for 1Rupee and the stratergy of locking up the customer.. Looks like Jio FTTH is launching soon and they are not interested in losing customers!!

They must be getting jittery with the Jio Fiber launch. In anticipation, I moved my subscription to monthly instead of doing the 6 months I was on.

The packages and speed of ACT are good, but customer service has gone down a lot lately.... recently I was having network issues for 3 days, something unheard of with ACT, but even more worrisome was that no ticket/complaint was raised despite my sending emails twice, the 3rd time I emailed the nodal officer and only then was a complaint registered and my issue sorted.

Customer service has become pathetic and the primary reason I have started to look elsewhere.

Last Revision was in April and they went for an upgrade again in July? :p
