I saw many people jumping on the new AIRTEL plans. There is FUP applicable in most circles & few circles have no FUP on them.. In my circle (MP-CG) there is FUP applicable on the Turbo1299 plan & I am inclining towards Explore 1099 which does not have FUP in any circle according to my information...
Most members have taken here Explore 1099 or Turbo 1299 plans. I want to know what speeds are they getting during day & night for their respective plans.. AIRTEL usually gives more than the stated speeds on their plans...
Also have you all cleared with AIRTEL the FUP limit, if it includes your day + night download/uploads for the limit to get activated... 'coz I got a call where the person told me that both night + day data transfers are calculated to reach the FUP limit & then the speeds will be halved for both day & night...

Explore 1099 - 384kbps/1Mbps
Turbo 1299 - 512kbps/1Mbps

I have applied for a brand new connection this week. I'm planning to go for the Explore 1099 - 384kbps/1Mbps plan. I'm not sure if FUP is applied to this plan or not. How can I make sure of that? The sales manager I spoke to doesn't have a clue about FUP. :S

I have got my Turbo 1299 activated last Friday.

Day Time speeds on Torrents - Avg 65Kbps (if Well Seeded)

Night Time speeds on Torrents - Avg 120-130 Kbps (Same as above) -The change in the speed starts around 9.45 pm and lasts till 6-6.10 Am.

(I am yet to test a large direct download file through HTTP or FTP)

And last but not least, FUP is applicable in my Circle (Kerala)

I just spoke to an Airtel CC rep & he told me (after confirming with his supervisor) that there is no FUP applied on any schemes. WTF? :S

Is this true? I told him discreetly that I'm from Mumbai & he told me that none of the scheme have FUP applied.

Ima on the 1699 1Mbps plan and when i download from Http, i always get more than 130kBps and it crosses 145KBps several times :)

I had the 1mbps plan, over HTTP i used to get avg 145-155KBps, now on 2mbps plan, speeds are almost always between 250 and 255 KBps. Thats sooo sweet :ohyeah:

I will be really happy to see upload speeds also, so pls pls post them(upload speeds) if it is possible :hap2:

Regards

I have taken the Turbo 1699 plan. Not sure of the FUP but most prolly its not dere...:P

For the speeds the download speed in torrents are ~115 in public trackers and a little more on public trackers. On average downloads 450MB per hour.

Uploads are limited to 50 max. :cool2:

Day FUP is there in 1099 plan, though technically with 384kbps you cannot use 100GB during day.

Only night is free to use guys.

Hmm.... So airtel now coming up with all these new plans ha...Great...

Hope they maintain the quality...and remove the shitty fup on unlimited soon completely!!!

Or else they will prove out to be thre marketing gimmc and nothing else!!!!

OK, where are you guys getting your information about the plan variations between different cities and FUP from? On Experience, there seems to be no way to choose a region and there is no mention of FUP whatsoever.

What I understand so far, from reading this thread, is that there is a 100GB limit on all unlimited plans (including the 2Mbps one). But in the Turbo 1299 plan, you get to have unlimited downloads at 1Mbps during the night and up to 100GB during the day at 512Kbps. Is that all true?

So even assuming that your budget is up to 5K, the best plan (i.e. the one that gives you the most leeway to download stuff) is still the Turbo 1299 one, right? Also, as of right now, these FUP limits do not apply in Noida (Delhi/NCR), do they?

(BTW, I realise that FUP decreases the speed instead of charging you for crossing the 100GB limit, so no need to mention that.)

That Airtel Experience site is bogus... only put up to lure potential customers.... For actual tariff you should go to airtel.in & check the tariffs... It clearly mentions limits for all plans, for different circles...

Yepp... till you reach your limit which will include download + upload & also both day & night time usage...

Not everybodies budget is upto 5k... In fact most people want under 1k plan for a true broadband experience which will take another 5-8 years at-least... The best plan still is Explore 1099 for 24x7 downloading 'coz the FUP is not yet there & you can easily get ~187GB from this plan... While with Turbo 1299 (FUP) you can download ~191GB...

Some circles in North India & South do not have FUP yet... These facts have been confirmed by AIRTEL CC & Wecare...

But that is the site I visited. Clicking on that Airtel Broadband graphic took me to the Experience website. What am I doing wrong?

I know but my budget is 5K, so which plan do you recommend? The 2Mbps “unlimited” one, right? I can download at 2Mbps till I cross 100GB and then at 1Mbps for the rest of the month, if I’ve understood this right. So I’ll get 2Mbps for the first week and then 1Mbps for the rest.

Thank you for the detailed response.

Yup, the new plans are available in Chennai. The only issue I've spotted so far is that the speed fluctuates a lot (ranges between 95-125kbps) if your downloading from a single server. Multiple downloads will max out the connection at around 125kbps. Average for torrent downloads is around 120kbps for private trackers

I'm already on a 384 kbps (@1099/month) plan in Bangalore.

Can I change over? Or will they have done it by default since it doesn't make any sense whatsoever for me to remain on 384 kbps at all times of the day for the same monthly fee as folks who get 1 mbps at night?!
