OC & Modding Air Cooler for i7 ?

Long time since i post that, planning to get rid of the salts deposits, which vinegar should i use, researching on google many suggest white vinegar, don't know what is that, but will the black vinegar do the job? that one we get with Chinese food or a simple bath in IPA will do the job.?

White vinegar is used as the household cleaning agent. Vinegar however may not be the best cleaning compound here since the Noctua heatsink has the Ni-plated Al fins with the Ni-plated Cu base. Vinegar doesn't particularly go well with Al since vinegar is highly acidic in nature. Household vinegar has a pH value of ~2.3-2.5 suggesting the acidity value of the liquid. However the layer of Alu. oxide formed on the heatsink should prevent any further reaction IMO.

IPA would work best for you. I had my TRU120E cleaned a while back with warm soapy water. It did work well although the flakes haven't gone completely. Will try the vinegar method for once.

i would suggest getting a h70

i myself have a venX but its quite flaky in the weather here

the h70 is quite similar in performance

pair it with 2 high cfm fans and ur set

:)
