Airtel 128kbps plan is acting as 400kbps ?

Hi Guyz ,

Right now I am Really speechless ! well I am on an Airtel 128kbps Plan but I was Getting a download speed of 45 kbps on azereus ! So I decided to check my Internet speed ! To My shock my speed is above 400kbps Right Now :O! I Have Rechecked it several Times and it is constant above 400kbps ! How The Hell is This Happening ? I Mean I am Really Really very Happy but I am Just Curious ! Is it Just for Time Being or Have I Become That Lucky ? :D

Dont wonder... Download as much as u can... Make hay while the sun shines... When they correct their system then u will be back on 128...
 
Bluffy is trying to make us jealous & doing a good job of it :)

On another note, wasn't there news sometime back about Airtel infusing some more bandwidth into the system, esp. in Delhi. I think I saw the same in TE but don't really remember. So on one level they know the people who're actively using the bandwidth & this is the best way for them to test & perhaps even cajole u to part with few more hundred Rs. when they bring the higher service plans for the aam junta :)
 
Bluffy is in Bangalore right now.....His hometown is Delhi.

I wish I would get those speeds :'(...but I am still getting only 256kbps...

But airtel must be trying out something....coz my pings to CSS servers have gone to hell....earlier, I used to get in the range of 50-100...bow I am getting 400 and above.
 
It happens sometimes in Airtel, especially in areas where they have lots of corporate subscribers...

Its usually over within a few hours, though someone in GK (Delhi) claims to have had these speeds for a week or so...

@ Shirish : Well maybe thats the case ! U Know I Have been downloading Like Mad ! My system is On 24/7 ! so maybe Airtel Noticed That and is Now Tryin to make me Happy so That in Future I Update my Plan ! Maybe They see in me a Potential Upgrader :P!
 
be happy for what u are getting & download everything & anything ..what upload speeds are u getting?...i'm really jealous now .
dont want to hijack the thread...but there is a way to make the airtel server return the speed to your customvalue....ofcourse only the speedtest will give u the result the actual download speed does not get affected ;)

lol...... no way you would be downloading as much as me....I touch 55 GB a month...... :P

Well u see my system is downloading 24/7 and my speed is 128kbps so I would be downloading Like .....35-40 gb Per Month ! I Think Thats not Less by any means ! Thats The Max my connection can Give ! :)

haha....feel free....this month, I am going slow on the downloading....downloading only one torrent at a time coz I am running out of DVDs...so even if the torrent is crawling, I am not starting other tasks..... :P
 
^^ well if u r calculating Like that then its pretty obvious That u can download more as u Have a 256 k Connection ! But I am downloading 35 gb per month on a 128 k connec..... so That Means if I Had a 256 k connection I would download Like 70gb per month ! :)

EDIT : If u wanna calculate Here it is ....

My download speed is 14-16kbps in Day and 24-28 kbps at Night ....so That means I can download around 500-600 mb in 10 Hours and around 1.3 gb in 24 Hours ! 1.3 x 30 = 39 gb ! so Thats wat I download approx in 1 Month using my 128 k connec ..:) ! And if I Had a 256 k connection I would be downloading Like 70-75 gb per month ! Now Beat That :P!
 
I could do more....but the thing is, I stop all downloads when I am playing CSS/checking mail/browsing the web...

And most of the torrents I download give slow speeds

And jst now for a sec, my Bit Comet showed speeds of 44kBps :S :S ....but then the moment I clicked on it, it dropped back to 30.

Just now again it happened!!!! 48kBps and then back down to 38!!! Now at 31....now at 36...... man...this seems good!!!
