Airtel 128kbps plan is acting as 400kbps ?

Helll ! Can u Believe it I am getting above 55kbps download speed on azureus :O! Man this is awesome ! I Hope it Lasts atleast a Day ! :)
 
Dude i had a similar experience - took a 128 with 13-15 download speeds, then one fine day got a tremedous hike in speeds. 40-50 i was like ......what the HELL!!

Then 2 weeks later i got a letter from Airtel telling me how good i have been to them and loyal and blah blah blah and appreciating my goodwill and loyalty they had upgraded my connection from 128 to 512 kbps

most of you guys who got the hike can expect such a letter from Airtel :)
 
^^prolly theres' some problem with their routers/servers,,,but they want the customers to think they are being awarded extra speeds:happy:....thats all...enjoy till the last bit lasts...:D

yup. too bad it lasted only 8 hrs :( actually airtel uncaps speeds quite often. my friend lives less than a kilometer from the airtel corporate office in chennai, and he gets such spikes almost once a week!! :@ and it lasts for around 10 hours!
 
@bluffy - the upgrade was free for me - so i hope its the same. I had a 995 plan with DSL and Telephone.

They increased the bandwidth from 128 to 512
They increased the free calls from 200 to 400

AT NO EXTRA COST :D
 
I had my 256 line running at 60kb/sec for almost a day and I called airtel during that time - as usual, they had no idea what was going on :D

And guys, use kb/sec when you talk about raw download speeds, not kbps :)
 
oh yeah.....and pings to CSS servers are also back to normal...

But I think it was better when I was getting bad pings....couldnt distract myself from my studies with stupid CSS .:P
 
Yea it was giving me awesome speeds as well 50+ on BT, and it was uploading at 60+ :O . Just got back to normal like 10 min back. Pings were screwed at that time, but those are also back to normal now.

What do u guys think, possibly they were testing the double b/w at night thing here. Lets hope they were and we'll get it soon :D

It's possible, so let's hope they roll this out in Bangalore soon... I'll try following up with this friend at Airtel.
