Mods, can anyone come on a TE tell someone to shut the f up, a whining school girl and what not.. than seriously there is something wrong with TE rules to allow such posts to be here. Even I can join a slanging contest here, but my culture and upbringing tell me not to waste my time and energy on peeps like you. Dude you seriously have some issues, and need some serious counseling. This is the last time I respond to you, as you are going on my IGGY list.

Deleting my post because you felt it was off topic is ridiculous man... I'm standing my ground - that post was on topic responding to techcheat's last post... at least he proved he's a schoolgirl by reporting my post.

Anyway, and I was going to dig up more info on whether those plans were real... glad I saw this.

With Airtel I get like a 100 ms latency to even indian servers like VS and FS. Either theres something wrong with my line or you guys just really like 100 ms pingu. By the way, that box for the line is located right next to my gate so I doubt that the distance b/w me and the box is a problem.

I ping 60-80ms to Indian and Singapore/Hongkong servers, with a few exceptions... not sure why your latency is ~100ms.
 
I think this division in opinions about AirTel is simply because there actually might be a big difference between QOS of AirTel Services in the North and in the South. Everybody I know in South India is on AirTel. I've been through BSNL and no doubt the line speeds are good here in B'lore just like it is elsewhere, but the constant headaches that accompany dealing with their CC is unbearable.

Most people living in the south swear by AirTel because it simply is fantastic for us. I'm sure there are a few exceptions here and there, but a large percentage is extremely happy about the line speeds, low latencies, CC and fantastic service. My computer at home has been continuously ON for the last year and a half downloading something or the other, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and in all that time there have been a handful of incidents where the line has gone down and even then, the longest it's taken to get the line back up again was less than 3 hours. So yes, most of us are extremely happy with AirTel. Granted we could use better plans, but as long as there is no downtime, i'm quite content with 256 UL as I get contast 32 kb /s speeds which is as much as a 256 line can churn out.

Hope this puts all the conflict here to rest. It's great in some places and not so much in others.

I dont want to indulge socially challenged individuals like yourself further. Its upto the mods if they allow bullying like this to go unchecked. You think you are so smart coming here and telling me to stfu, or a whining schoolgirl.... but any sane person reading this thread know what kind of an individual you are. I dont want to stoop to your level, so I will end it here now.

^^ Agreed, I too feel that it might be a North South service issue. Here is North since quake Airtel service and ping times have been pathetic.

I'm sorry, but I can't stand individuals whining when the solution is in their hands/control... so maybe Airtel is terrible in the north, why complain *all the time*? Is it actually helping? On second thoughts, maybe it is... in that case, keep your other thread alive and steer clear of my way when I'm trying to get confirmation on whether the plans posted here are real, and if not, find out when the new plans are arriving.

And yes, people here know what kind of individual I am... I could care less about a whiner's opinion.

I would request other north india customers to also check esp delhi people who were getting speeds of 19 - 20 that now for the past 3 -4 days i have waited and seen , my speeds have become better, download speeds are 25 kbps + , checked on many different servers on speedtest.net also. i think speeds have been restored but the pings are still on a high.

Rio, i dont want to offend anyone. But y do u even respond to anyone when u feel they are whining. Lots of things/discussions go around you. U certainly dont need to poke ur nose in, more so by by labelling someone as schoolgirl or whiner. Each of us have full rights to vent our frustrations on airtel/any other company. Similarly each of us have full rights to praise those very same companies. A service which worked for you does not necessarily mean it should/will work for others. Nor does it mean that another service which didnt meet ur expectations will fail everywhere else.

And i really dont expect any matured person to indulge in name calling.

Well well well...

I talked to Airtel CC just right now. One lady spoke.

I asked if Airtel is coming with any 2mbps plans soon.

The lady started something like this:

" I know why you are asking.. because BSNL has started 2mbps.. right.. ?.. blah blah blah... well the contention ratio of their plans is 1:8 that means mostly you get 256kbps only even n 2mbps.. and add to that they have bandwidth limits and you cross those limits easily.. blah blah blah.. thats why Airtel has no plans to offer 2mbps now or in near future.. blah blah blah..."

she is right.... my friends on BSNL rarely get speeds of more than 60kBps. That is just abt 512 kbps......

Pretty sad actually..

I'm not against whining... start a thread and whine, don't pollute others threads with the same story for the nth time. I didn't poke my nose (as you describe it lol) in his airtel ripoff thread, and I won't do that even if you start a thread to bash me ;)

Later, get back on topic or our posts will get deleted again :P
 
Well I just confiormed the above with AirTel CC. Apparently it isnt available in every part of Bangalore... atleast not yet. They expect to have it available across all areas in B'lore in about 1-2 weeks.

Not sure about other parts of India. This is with regard to B'lore only.

No word on a 1mbps+ Unlimited Plan yet.

Yeah man console yourself. you are right, we Bsnl users dont get 60 kBps, infact we (we beacuse i and many other people who use BSNL from other forums) get around 170-190 kBps on torrents if seeders are available. Also i get the same speed using download managers, although the speeds i get using browsers are not high.

P.S I am getting those speeds in my NU hours. I may not get those speeds in morning , but who cares, we dont do much downloads in day
