I've an AIRTEL 256Kbps always on unlimited connection.... My rig runs 24/7 & is always connected... I am getting a problem since last two weeks... After 1-1.30 am. it disconnects, sought of connection hangs... Even though the local area icon displays as connected with the icon in the system tray showing this, there is no data transfer & no site is opened...

The biggest problem is Azureus stops downloading... Now When I see this I usually have to open the LAN Status>Support>Repair & it refreshes the connection, connecting again... but now Azureus shows a NAT error & download speed suffers....:@ :@

Sometimes this method does not work & after restartig the computer & MODEM the Azureus refuses to use the port assigned giving a NAT Error again... Now I have to change the port no. to enable NAT...:@

Every time have to assign s different port & all earlier assigned ports do not work.. I listed them since last two weeks....:( :(

Where is the problem... I have given IP addresses in TCP/IP properties as per AIRTEL customer care...but still the problem is unsolved except the frequency of disconnections has decreased...

i have some "disconnection" issues with my Tata Indicom bb as well. sometimes the connection just "hangs" around 2am in the morning. like you, i have my rig on 24/7, mainly doing BTs (utorrent client). so i just use an automatic task scheduler to reset my connection everyday @ 2.05am. seems to work fine for me, and i juz lose about 5 mins of connectivity each day. no biggie :)

i don't know about this NAT error in Azareus since i don't use it. but utorrent works beautifully for me. maybe u can try a combination of utorrent and a task scheduler to refresh the connection everyday at 1.35am or so.

But the problem is that, the time is not specific.. it can happen any time after 1 am. The solution I have is very odd & clumsy... I have a software Download Upload Meter loaded which beeps when there is no traffic on the network... kind of like an alarm... So I wake up & refreshes the connection....

Last night it was @ 6 am in the morning but its really odd.. Airtel customer care don't know shit about the problem.. I even reformatted the HDD to make sure there is not something wrong with my setup....

Any more suggestions please????

i have the same problem... just that it happens once in a few hours...
the entire network just hangs...
i just have to restart the modem and it gets back working...

maybe i have to format the computer and then it`ll work...

I formatted the HDD then it ran smoothly for a week then I moved my computer to my bedroom... Again this problem surfaced... I asked the AIRTEL Customer Care that do they block ports but they said negative..

I believe the problem is with AIRTEL network itself.. When NAT is not reachable the download speeds are very slow but upload speeds are allright...:( :(

a typical windoze user.......
jokes apart..this happens when the server gets loaded to crap...,,,this got nothing to do with OS..its' all with the ISPs' server...*90%

nope... its wit my system... i have 2 comps at home.. both on dif connections.. and no matter wat i do... one comp gets stuck like i mentioned.. and the other works fine all time...

its not that i get slow speeds its just that nothing works... it shows the error page immediately. like its not connected to the net itself...
even a http to 192.168.1.1 whic is my router home doesnt work...
when that comp gets stuck i cant even see the network connection status...
the pages in ie immediately show the error...
no pings no nothing...
i`m 100 percent sure its some confilct...
even event log has some dhcp related error in it..
i`ve even tried disabling dhcp...
used it on briged mode and now on always on mode too...

no matter wat i do it gets stuck...
last resort is format....
its my sis`s comp if not i would have formatted...

@burnz ... i am Facing the same Problem With Tata BB. can u Elaborate on the automatic task scheduler.i am Sure this will me help me out

Guys,

It seems more like an AIRTEL network problem with my connection.... Sometimes the connection refreshes itself after some time & the net is automatically connected again... I saw this two three times when out of laziness I didn't wake in the middle of the night to refresh or restart the MODEM....

But then Azureus gets a NAT error here also.. In Azureus I have to assign a new port no. & it will work.. Even DHT fails... Where could be the problem.... My WinXP is fully patched... I use ZoneAlarm Pro with internet lock & passlock to Azureus.... I've Kespersky Antivirus & Ad Aware Pro....

With so good protection & a fresh format this problem should have vanished from my end..... The point to note is that this never occur during daytime.... :@ :@ :@ :@

Can somebody tell if its allright to disable DHCP in LAN setup of Beetel 220BX???? 'coz it has a lease line setting for 24 Hrs.... whatever that means...

this problem started for me recently, i set up port forwarding and everything has been fine since then. its been more than 100 hours and no disconnection :)

How many of you who are facing this problem use Kaspersky Antivirus 6????

Problems...

1) Connection freeze
2) no webpage load
3) Azureus stoped
4) Choosing repair in LAN status window> support tab fixes sometimes
5) Restarting MODEM fixes the problem
6) Sometimes System + MODEM Restart Needed
7) Azureus NAT Error after connection repair or MODEM restart
8) Connection status under support tab is messed up..
9) ping failed... nodata transmitted.. error code 65..

but...

1) able to open LAN Status window
2) Able to open connection properties

I guess I have the solution for this problem, atleast in my case.... The culprit is not AIRTEL network or MODEM but my "Kaspersky Antivirus 6" which was set to automatic update.... I accidentally noticed that the time of signature download is the same as the time of connection drop.... looked at the log files of Kaspersky & saw some entries I remember as disconnection times & at those times there was a signature download failiure.... :@

I set the update to manuel mode & no disconnection since last two days

others might have this issues with their AV as well, Kaspersky or not... Do chek if this is the case...

Anyway thankxxx to everyone for their inputs... :hap2: :hap2:

Strange! I use Kaspersky with automatic download. Never noticed any dropout on Airtel 256

Which version is it... I have v.6.0.1.411.... Earlier it was 6.0.0.303 which was working fine... Never manually downloaded any updates with that version....:)

lol....guys, this is happening because of the modem.

Happens to be also..... I guarantee you, it is the modem.

See if the ADSL light on the modem is blinking..... It is usually off when this happens....
