:@ i dont know whats wrong but am not getting double speeds today, this is like after a 3 day cut coz i delayed paying a bill ehh... and that airtel help line does not connect . am getting download speeds of 23 24 Kbps max.

A general question abt nite double which mite help u too ..

i heard ki the airtel ppl now wd give u nite double if u paid 100 bux xtra ..

and earlier they wd provide the nite double for free..

is this true ??

aare there is no 100 rs crap as far as i know . and many people are getting it its just me . i think they have now capped me or something. ehhh

I guess you already know it but lemme just reconfirm this for ya: Its still working fine here..

Tough luck mate..Call up the CC and give them a piece of you mind.

1. My airtel connection is giving me double speed right now.... downloading at 55KBps.

2. Call up the CC... give them a piece of your mind... they will do nothing except tell you that their min. commitment is 128kbps and that night double is upto 512kbps.

Keep calling them. Eventually a CC exec who knows about the double speed thing will answer the phone and your connection'll be fixed.

I have faced a problem ever since i got Airtel. The double speeds i.e. 512 Kbps stays only upto 1 hour after connecting to internet after 9 p.m. then it goes back to 256 Kbps. If i switch off the modem and switch it ON again, the speed again reaches 512 Kbps for 1 hour.

I searched the internet and found that this is not a rare problem. Should i contact the Airtel support? Are you getting 512 Kbps throughout the night without disconnecting after every hour?

200mph dude, ur speed has been capped at 25 kbps

happened with a frnd of mine who didnt pay the bill on time, i mean even normally the speeds are 32-34kbps these days

give em a good solid piece of ur mind man

I have a 2mbps connection at my office (Gurgaon, and as I am alone i enjoy the full speed) I get 125-150 KB/Sec

At home I have VSNL/TataIndicom Broadband 256kbps connection (will be upgrading to 512) and get downlaod speeds of about 30KB/Sec

And updating the firmware, if its yours then u can do it, if on rental then I think u should not do it or ask customercare. And has your bill been cleared, then give its reference saying I have paid so and so......

thanks bro, i'll try it. Can i take a backup of the current Firmware?

Should i do the update myself or call an Airtel guy to do it?

No need to take any backups. You can do it quite easily urself.

Just do this...

Open http://192.168.1.1/main.html in ur browser.

Go to Management >> Update Software.

Put the img file in the "Software File Name:" and then click "Update Software".

Remember one thing very well... This will take around 2-3 minutes. DONT DO ANY REFRESH OR ANYTHING or the modem will be dead.

Just did the update and guess what? the internet stopped working.

Tried different things and found that the new firmware had removed the TCP/IP settings from control panel. To add to that it changed the PPPoE mode to Bridged mode.

To counter, this i created a dialer in WinXP and voila it worked! I still need to check the double download speed stuff though...

My internet was working in Ubuntu 7.04 as it was PPPoE based. Now it has stopped working, so either i will have to change the router to PPPoE mode so that it works on Ubuntu too or configure a dialer in Ubuntu

^^ well I can tell you rite now, the double speed thingy, even with the latest firmware as suggested here, not working, each and every hour it goes to 25kbps

ehh i think i have been capped or something i just put up a complaint regarding the same , gave them a blast lets c what happens

If it doesn't work, then should i call Airtel support? This seems to be a common problem.
