airtel suddenly uncapped??

lol, im gettin de same 25-27 kbps, 256k Unlimited(till Nov 30th, 500rs /month) no chang here, man, hope mine changes too. but i'll b changin, to 256kbps Unltd, then 1000/rs, well if i change, wud i still get de same 256kbps or lil more,, hope of gettin a higher speed
 
hey guyz, h u hrd abt de Icara(or somthin lyk dat) connection, i hrd dat keep a some kind of antenna(or somthin lyk dat, quite .. stupid though, i mean, is it possible), on de rooftop, n gives good speed, ma frnd tol me abt de connection few days ago.

but, i got connected at 512 the moment i upgraded to 256 kbps around 4 weeks ago, but never actually got the full 512...only upto around 27-29 kBps with nothing more than 10 kBps in almost every download from download.com :@

Now, i think they've uncapped it. my firefox integrated defualt dl manager downloads files at a 52.00 kBps, and goes +1 kBps after every 45-60 secs, stops ar around 55 kBps finally.

Though, in Bitcomet/and other p2p it hasn't gone above 32 kBps yet.

i think by next couple of weeks, they may uncap every 256 unlm plan to 512...or its only here to last for the diwali season for some customers i guess...hope they continue this scene with 512 unlm at 999 :D

Its getting better and better...

On torrents, little(or fast) ones (arnd 200-500MB) i get a constant 50+ kBps.

On large ass ones (4gb+ DVD-R's) it falls to around 35-40 kBps.

On DC++, its outrageous, speed doesn't fall below 55 kBps! (at one point i caught it going on 75 kBps for like 20 mins before it fell down back to 55 :( )

On the side note, the Firefox download manager now also DL's doesn't fall below 55 kBps....

don't know what's causing this(is it really an upgrade, or just for Diwali, or server glitch?), whatever it is, i hope it'll be there to stay forever, and happens for all the other Airtel BB users as well :ohyeah:



Though, my theory is, there is noone that is sharing my line. because Airtel usually puts 4-5 128 kbps users on a 512, they put me in a group like everyone else, at first when i got my 128 kbps connction from Airtel, i used to get speeds above around 32 kBps, after a week it wen back to 16 kBps, which was what i was paying for, i asked them what was really going on(thought maybe they just confused my plan with someone else) they said there weren't enough users in my line so i was getting all their registered bandswidth, once other signed up, they got their share so i could steal no more....i think the same is happening here. Maybe they are refreshing their servers since they are getting a lot of new connection because of their 256 unlm plan, i think my line again is vacant...again that's what i think...it may be true or may not be..but its foolish of Airtel to advertise 256 and offer 512 only to some customers.
 
^ Bosky said he got an *official* mail from Airtel about him being upgraded from a 128K unlimited plan to a 256K unlimited plan at no extra charge. So the upgrades do look authentic. However haven't heard of people receiving any official upgrades from 256K to 512K, and people (like me) are still at the same 256K :)
 
i don't think they charged any existing Airtel user for the upgrade..i called them up to upgrade mine from 128 to 256 and they did it the next day, without any fee.
Though 512 unlm plans are nowhere being advertised, they don't exist on the tarriff's...but 55 kBps isn't exactly 512, 64 kBps is, that's 10kBps low from the plan...so don't think any of these upgrades are being taken place...maybe just a server fault...'maybe'.
 
Well guyz, those who have been upgraded from 128Kbps to 256Kbps were those who were paying paying Rs.999/- per month, and those who are paying Rs.699/- for the 128Kbps unlimited are stuck with 128Kbps only(like me) this is what they told me when i called them. My friend who was paying Rs.999 for 128Kbps got upgraded to 256Kbps and not me where i was paying only Rs.699 per month.
 
i got a Primus' hotwire 128k LiVE ip connection.
Dunno what was it -- i was on a 2.5mbps line for 4 days flat. was getting more than 320kdownload & plus 250k on upload. Downloaded 25gb & uploaded around 31gb. Man it was the best time of my life i ever had in my life ---
 
yeah Im in west Delhi, in the Vikas Puri area & have this Connection. ITs from PRIMUS company & they operate under the ISP name HOTWIRE.

Yes they give me Static IP connection @ 128kbps & the connection ROCKS!!!!
I pay 1150/- per month
