^^ Hehe, A very good question! :D

But its dependant on a number of factors:

- Your CPU (different CPU's have different potential)

- Your motherboard (is it a good motherboard targetted at overclocking)

- Your PSU (insufficient power = you cant overclock much)

RAM RAM? :P but of course u cud argue u wud use a memory divider ;)

Crazy_Eddy said:
Lets say you have a good mix of all the above 3 factors, I would estimate a minimum of 2.6Ghz atleast. How high you can go is a very controversial subject, some people may be over enthusiastic to suggest 3Gigs is possible, others may be conservative in saying 2.6 .

With water or LN cooling, 3 gigz is quite possible ;)

Darky any timeframe regarding this?
I mean when this can be expected..

Well i am in touch with my dealer.
I need to confirm him teh quantity. So he will talk with the AMD guy regarding rate and all. ;)

Precisely why I left it out! :D

But of course you need RAM to run the system hehe :bleh: , just that you can get away with even Value RAM, as long as the board doesnt reject it.

Yes, but apart from esteemed few (like Sunny) , we po' boys dont have such exquisite cooling :ohyeah:

Just got a call from my dealer. He had a word with the AMD guy and the AMD guy said that 10 pieces of Venice are coming to India in next 10 days or before.
WHich models,is still unknown.
Pricing will be known tomorrow or Monday.

I need to finalise the quantity fast as soon as the pricing is known as my dealer needs to block those amount of CPUs.

hey guys sorry, but I need to back out, as I wont be buying anything before july.

Damn! This is one nice opportunity i'm missing out on....

I will pester you guys in july as to whether the 3000+ i'l be buying will be winnie or venice.
Everyone enjoy your venices.

Yo Darky,

If your dealer is getting the shipment within the next 10 days, you can count me in for a Venice 3000+ but your dealer will really have to be very firm with his comittment; otherwise I'll end up in a $hit creek with no paddle :).

Just in case your dealer leaves you high and dry, I can venture to get you one early next month prolly. But you really should keep mine as a very distant second option and will have to lemme know by Monday atleast. The only reason why I'd hesitate to get you one is bcoz of your reputation - if the Venice that I get you turns out to be dud OC-er, you'll have my a$$ up on a sling :) !

A lot of people were recommended the 3200+ Winnie over the 3000+ keeping in mind the higher multiplier, but honestly speaking has anyone actually fallen short with the lower multi?
True, the Venice's do hold more potential than the Winnie, but it would be wiser to get yourself a better board instead of the higher 3200+. Price difference would definately be a bit, at present its about a 50$ difference between the two.

Anyway depends on the mobo, which one do you have in mind? If its a decent mobo like even the A8N-E capable of doing high HTTs, a lower multi should not be your concern :)

You are probably right, its not worth the extra 50$.
Actually I was planning to get the msi neo2 platinum. I have an AGP card, geforce 6600gt. What board with AGP support would be good for overclocking and features?

The neo2 platinum is the best AGP mobo for oc'ing. NO doubt abt that at all......
There's gonna be a DFI Lanparty NF3 UT 939 board thats gonna come out within the next month. It'll own the MSI for sure in oc'ing :).

Yup the above board is in talks for a long time now....but dnt b sure it will b soon.
well it may cme tmrw too or mayb aftr 2 months.........but going by the name DFI , it will own

Well thats what he called and told me, i dont think he would have called had he not had the confirmation.

It's upto you, whether to place order or no. ;)

I am trying my level best to get for everyone interested but dont blame me if something happens unfortunately and we cant get the chips.

Please note that, its not my responsibility.Dont get me wrong though ;)

oki.
Do let us know the prices as they are made available to you. If the shipment is confirmed i will arrange the payment accordingly.
My exams will be starting on 28th but its no biggie. My bro is now here who is also geek like us. so he can take pains of installing and testing the chip. So i am ready to buy whenever its available.

Hey, Firstly THANKS A LOT for taking the initiative and putting in the efforts to bring Venice over for everybody. That's real nice of you :) !

No, don't worry, I know how such things work when you have to depend upon the dealer for a special order. I certainly will not be disappointed !

It's just that I'm desperately looking for a skt 939 cpu to test my DFI mobo without having to dismantle my existing Winnie rig ! Though I haven't still seen it, my mobo apparently is in town and took a cool 5 weeks to get here. It had taken a week to get to Delhi airport office from US and then something went awry

Pricing isn't a problem - it obviously may be more expensive bcoz of warranty and such, but that might be well worth it.

Thanks again and will confirm my order when I get to see my mobo or what's left of it :P on Monday, hopefully !

Congratulations bro.. u r the 6th guy to join the leet DFI club ;)

HeHe Thanks EL Platy..errr... Masky ! just checkin'....do i need to have a functional mobo to be a member of that club :P !

psssst.....there's someone else here in town planning to fire his DFI+Venice rig this weekend. If you see a major power outage in the Southern Grid, and the Eastern Air Command goin' on Red Alert, well ...you know that that someone just got a li'l too carried away with his oc-ing !
