Hello Guys,

my Athlon 240 is dead because i reduced its vcore from 1.42 to 1.350.:(

I've checked it on another mobo, and i also checked my mobo..

i was running this cpu on stock clock.

There is no visible damage on CPU.

I have purchased this CPU from Abacus Peripherals, they asked me to get a call locked on Accel Frontline , however the service section is down for a while.

according to rma info on amd site "To obtain warranty service for your AMD Processor in a Box, contact your computer system manufacturer or distributor during the systems warranty period. After your computer system warranty has expired, you can submit a warranty request to AMD Customer" so this mean i can't contact amd for RMA because its still under warranty??

what should i do??

Is there any other website/way to get my CPU replaced/repair:huh:

my config:

Athlon II x2 240

Biostar ta785ge 128m

corsair vx450

sapphire 4670 512 gddr3

2 gb kingston 667mhz ram

500gb seagate hdd, 500gb WD blue hdd

Hi,

Accel will provide doorstep pickup of defective CPU and delivery within the warranty period. Accel Frontline Services has 40 branches and this activity will be centrally managed by its center at Bangalore.

to create a RMA, go here:

Accel Frontline Services

Help it helps:)

thanks for the quick reply
but in the online form there is no drop down option in "Service Type" and i can't submit without it, and in the "nearest service center" option the only available place is BANGALORE.i don't get it, why do have to courier the cpu to BANGALORE, why can't i go to there service center at nehru place and submit it personally:S

This means that if u hav a branded pc like hp, compaq, lenovo etc then u hav to contact them instead of amd within watever warranty they hav provided. like if hp has provided 1 yr warranty on ur system then if under 1 yr something goes wrong with cpu then hp will take care of that instead of amd...and after hp's warranty period is over then amd will be taking care of the remaining warranty on the cpu.

:cool2:

first you need to send & fill India RMA form to rma.india@amd.com, after receiving confirmation email from AMD india, you can walk into accel with defective cpu set/RMA no.RMA form can be downloaded from AMD website (doc file)

^^Almost a week :)

I sent my old X3 8650 (which had no fault to begin with) and got a spanking new X3 8750 in lieu of it within a week !

Never heard of this happen.First time ever heard of a CPU dying of undervolting. Are you sure that's the main cause?

Is my CPU at risk if I continue to do the same? I reduced the idle from 1.25v to 0.9750v(Browsing,D/U)

yup I'm sure of it, cause after changing the vcore my system didn't start:no:, not even POST displayed.I've checked this cpu on another motherboard and still nothing .My motherboard is working fine. I've tested it with Phenom II x2 550

don't know man. you should ask the pros:ashamed:

really really odd , it probably just happened to die at that setting but its probably some previous settings or something else that killed it, hope RMA goes smoothly.

Very odd indeed maybe defective from the start and it might be more a matter of time than voltage.

Any experience if AMD CPUs purchased in USA can be RMAed in India or not ?

got the new cpu today:ohyeah:
its v core is at 1.376v. sometimes it drops to 1.360 while idle(is it normal?)
does cool n quite do this? it's enabled in the bios.
and also, thanks guys for helping me out:hap2:

Yes, C&Q does it. Varies V core, Processor speed and hence fan speed too as per necessity.
