AMD Ryzen 9 Vs. Core i3 10100

I am upgrading my CPU and motherboard and am really struggling to decide between the Ryzen 9 5900x build and the Core i3 10100 build for my budget gaming (1080p 60fps) plus freelance video editing PC. Will paying a bit more for Ryzen worth it for my needs.

I see that Ryzen 9 5900x benchmarks (games + video software) are better than i3 10100 but is that really that big of a difference. Will I regret going with i3?

Looking forward to your advice.
 
for 1080p gaming i3 is more than enough. 5900x is not necessary, you can use that difference for better graphics card or good nvme SSD.
 
How much are you getting the ryzen 9 for? Because the price difference between these two CPUs is rather significant.
And, yes the Ryzen 9 is the better processor for tasks like video editing by a long shot.
 
Why are you comparing a 5900x to an El cheapo i3 10100/10105? The are not even competition. 5900x should be compared with a 12700K.
 
Go for core i5 12th gen or the 5600x. More than enough. Middle ground. I would never go with i3 if you are planning to do video editing.
