CPU/Mobo AMD Ryzen CPUs launched

Also, do wait. Had a few random crashes in the first few hours of usage. Plus, the BIOS on that board is shit.
Kept getting the error "clock_work_timeout" error in windows which caused a restart. Got it 3 times.
Also tried running the memory at higher than 2133MHz, but it failed to boot. Did not try the beta BIOS. For now, it will suffice.
 
Ouch. Looks like RAM issues here too, probably due to the RAM model not being on the supported hardware list of the mobo.

Try replacing with something that is on the list?

In the mean time, try troubleshooting like keeping it at 2133 speed and only using 1 stick in the "primary" slot of your motherboard.

What version is currently in there? The latest stable is "F5" - try updating to that? For the latest "beta" version F6d someone on reddit bricked their board with it (can't get it to boot) so would proceed with caution there.
 
Will try it with 1 stick. It was already running at 2133MHz. Also, apparently the older versions of windows 10 have issues, so we are suppose to use the later builds (post 1607 build). Will be trying that as well.
 
Any feedback on the Asrock X370 boards? I'm looking at the X370 Gaming board from them + a Ryzen 1700. Also, are the AM4 brackets for the TRUE120 available?
 
Probably if you scour reddit and/or post your query there too you might get some good inputs.

@TechHead and yeah, puhleese take extra care when picking your RAM at this time :D by checking your mobo's "QVL" (qualified vendors list) or "HCL" (hardware compatibility list).

looks like bios updates are rolling out according to reddit crowd. Will post updates later tonight or tomorrow assuming my mobo gets it too.
 
Nope, the new BIOS version 0513 for my board doesn't resolve my RAM compatibility problem. Still buggy. Didn't bother trying the FMA3 crash test.

It does add a couple of items: An option to disable SMT (hyperthreading) and some "Performance Bias" option with items like "CB15" etc (I guess to tweak for CineBench etc).

It does not appear to have the new AGESA/microcode either since the version displayed is still at 8001105 so at least there's still something to look forward to.

The agonising wait continues...

Vishal, is this only for the B350 based boards? Cause the tech channels are reporting BIOSes working with ~2933 mhz ram speed and also there is new kit launched by G.Skill for the Ryzen called the Flare series.
 
No, it's for pretty much all the boards B350 or X370 and what not. Gotta wait a bit more for further BIOS updates to see if things improve for the Ryzen early-adopter crowd.

Yes, there are people with 3200 RAM which works at 2933 and a few lucky that have their 3200 RAM running at full 3200. Most people have 2400 - 3200 RAM stuck at default 2133 speed.

Then there are still many people (like me) who have various RAM/mobo combinations that even if they run at default 2133 speed they get crashes/reboots in Win10 during gaming or stress testing.

The G.Skill FlareX and Fortis series, yes, are specifically for the new AM4 mobos and they claim compatibility, but again, I would wait for few early people to start using it and reporting if they are really stable at the full rated speed and not again stuck at 2133. Then again, if BIOS updates anyway resolve RAM issues for people, then this "special" RAM series will make no sense for the extra price :)
 
Anyhow, after a couple of weeks, I might just get some G.Skill Fortis 2400 mhz RAM if the situation does not improve.

yep it appears so. if you pay attention to mobo ram compatibility list or get g skill new flarex or Fortis then only potential issues "should" be that they run at basic 2133 speed . Again. Key word is "should" be :-) best option would be to wait for at least a couple weeks till new Bios releases and people start reporting good news (or not) heh

Btw, took your advice and ran the system with only 1 stick. Works fine, no crashes yet. Will probably try the other stick after I update the BIOS (maybe after a month).

Funny (or sad) thing is that my RAM is supposedly "pure stock" DDR4 specification CAS latency at 15 running at standard 2133 mhz speed so I was expecting it to be the most stable and yet is having issues (at least that's what I suspect and hopefully not some other system problem) so yeah I'm hoping it's ASUS BIOS (resolvable) issue only.
