But i think, they ve priced it so insane [$1100~1200] only coz they dont have to at this moment. There are no challenges, and nothing close enough. So what if the manufacturing expenses is less ?

they can sell it for whatever prices they can think off, until there is some competition for it, and is practically cheaper. and they fear they ll loose many customers only due to the higher price. :(

Most of us, even if know all these, still goes for high end stuffs IF we have the money.

the i980X is cheaper to produce, yes, it's die size is 23mm^2 smaller than i920....

Where does Intel say that? Cheaper die sizes relate to lower overhead expenses? :S

but the price isn't indicative of that :P

these chips cost only some $20 to make. Main costs incurred is R&D.

Very true, the yields won't be that bad, I mean they've turned to 32nm for their entire sub 200$ market with the Core i3's and i5's.

True, R&D eats the cost away, but I feel r&d won't be that great as compared to the original Nehalem, as Westmere is a derivative, with some tweaks, like 2x3 core clusters, 100% more cache, around 17% higher latency, hardware AES encryption support, support for 1.35V and 1.25V DDR3 Modules and some energy efficiency enhancements.

Great value for money

Several benchmarks of AMD's Zosma-based 1090T six-core have popped up on Coolaler's forums, and the results look rather impressive.

The X6 managed to outperform Intel's Core i7 860 in multi-threaded apps, but Intel managed to hold its ground in less threaded applications. Mind you, the 860 is a quad-core processor, but it costs as much as AMD's six-core 1090T. Sadly, the reviewers did not compare the 1090T to Intel's 980X or some similarly priced Core i5 processors.

The bottom line is that the Phenom II X6 1090T sounds like a sweet deal for video editing and 3D, but it's pointless for gamers.

You can check out the results here.
