Good lord! I tried for the first few minutes and quit. My body was completely covered with goosebumps and couldn't take it any longer. :fear: :(

I challenge anyone to play this in the dark and with a proper set of cans. And ALONE!

How will I even complete this title! :(

Dont try it .... you dont want to end up in Surat Mental Hospital do you :P

Somethings are never meant to be tried :D

Is it really this scary? I cant believe that a video game can scare people this much, but I haven't tried such a game either so let me try this one out ;)

@ronnie: hell no! But yeah I am going to play this title come what may. Will give it a shot tomorrow morning. Going for Dabangg tonight and a better excuse would probably be that I am shit scared to play it at night. :dead:

My room-mate has gone home for vacation and the tenant who stays downstairs has gone home as well. Damn it, not the best time to play it. :(

Best time to play this game

Time : Start around 2-3 AM

Atmosphere : Play in a dark room

Sound : Wear good Head Phones

Enjoy gaming :D

Penumbra scared me shitless....

Fact is...Games like Amnesia rely on your weakness and immersion- absense of hud/gun and distortion effects to scare you...not the sudden jerks, ugly monsters or silly scares. You just feel safe to be in that well lit room and never want to venture out...That feeling is amazing. I for one will never complete Amnesia...that for sure

+10 Mate Jump scare is the easy way to scare someone.... scaring someone in slow methodical way takes much more effort

I noticed another thing... All these games run on Linux too :D

I play these games the way they are meant to be played, F.E.A.R , Doom , Condemned, dead space, penumbra were all fun in the dark with surround sound post 11 p.m

I ll give this one a try too since its got a good score from bit-tech

So no one else tried this yet? I should be done with Mafia 2 in sometime and will be looking forward for this. :ashamed:

In the meantime, K&L: DD awaits me but since that's a short game as well, we have Dead Space lined up and Infamous too. Been playing like mad these days lol. :D

Then you probably did not play it the way it is meant to be played. Even the readme .pdf file says, a dark environment, a set of cans with the volume cranked up is the way to go. ;)

This game doesn't fail to deliver. Or maybe this genre is not your cup of tea.

Have you tried Dead Space yet?

Me currently playing it on my PC. Fricking scary!
Dead Space scares the shit out of you even while playing in daytime. You start looking at every thing suspiciously dead bodies, hole in the walls, ventilators etc. You could hear some whispering noises too. The game really makes you paranoid.

The graphics are top notch. I love Isaac's movements, they are so realistic.

^This game makes you paranoid as well. The first time I installed it, I could barely take it for the first 10 minutes. I quit instantly after the weird noises. :ashamed:

I then switched to Mafia 2, completed it and played this on Sunday afternoon with the lights in the adjacent room switched on. Advanced a lot ahead actually. I have reached a level where there's water and an invisible creature comes. If you stay in the water, you are killed - came to know of it when I got killed the first time. The part that there are no weapons in the game makes it even more scary.

One can fill the lamp with oil which drains out eventually so we need to use them wisely without spending too much time searching for something. We need to create a chemical compound out of 4 odd chemicals inside a laboratory and we end up searching for those 4 chemicals in different places. We see shadows of enemies wandering around as we move ahead which makes it very very scary. :fear:

WTF! No one played this yet? :P

OK I've had to go through solving some puzzles such as making explosive mixtures, assembling some cog wheels on a machine to get it working (like in POP series), inserting rods into a machine, some coal into a burner and the likes. This was done to get some elevator working. Got it working finally and have gone down further the building. There are plenty of diary entries to be found which essentially guide us as clues. I ran out of lantern oil yesterday until I managed to light up a few candles with tinderboxes. But the fact that only one candle can be lit with one tinderbox is lame! I mean when candles are nearby why cannot they be successively lit with the same tinderbox? :\

Btw I met this guy a couple of times - when he comes on the screen, the screen flashes indicating his presence and hints us to douse the lantern and stay in a dark place until he's gone.

Wonder where this leads to. :ashamed:

Yogi, you should play this title. :)

WTH no one played this yet? :O

I completed it last week and the game sure lives upto the expectations. The game is pretty long for a 2GB worth installation and I happened to play it real slow. I could not at times, take it and used to quit the game out of fear. There is only one creature one would encounter during the entire gameplay and he sure scared the socks off me! The music is pretty creepy when he turns up. The lack of weapons in the game adds to the scare factor even more and all one has to counter it is the tinderboxes to light the candles and the lantern with the limited quantity of oil which can run out real quick if we do not quickly complete the objectives on time (for instance, finding certain chemicals, tools, cogwheels etc in the dark areas within the castle).

The ending is pretty useless though - I wouldn't want to spoil it so play and post your impressions. :D
