Just wanted to go through your valuable suggestions

Cpu - Intel core i5-750 (2.66Ghz) - 9.5k
Mobo - MSI P55 GD65 - 9.5k ( GA-P55M-UD2 is not available )
Ram - Transcend 2x2gb 1333mhz ddr3 - 4.8k
HDD - Seagate 500gb - 2.3k
Optical drive - Samsung/LG DVD writer - 1.1k
Graphics card - ATI HD 4890 1gb GDDR5 - 11.5k
Cabinet - Cooler Master CM 590 - 4k
SMPS - Corsair TX 750 - 8k
Monitor - Samsung 23" P2350 - 11k

Total - 61.7k

Now my question lies does MSI P55 GD 65 use Foxconn sockets ?

What do you guys think about the rig ?

This will be only and only i5 rig

I guess you have a pretty decent rig now. I would strongly advice you to wait for the new 32nm processors. The LGA-1156 sockets wont be getting any new processors. Plus when such a big launch is just around the corner(<1 month) its better to wait for it.

i5 750 is a good upgrade, if you are moving from a Core to duo, but not a considerable upgrade if you are already on core to quad, but you seem to be pretty adamant abt i5 750, so be it...

TX 750 is an overkill for this system, TX 650 is good and still more than what you will require.

HD 4890? what happened to HD 5770? Go for HD 5xxx...

Nice choice for the cabinet, CM 590 >> CM 690...

If you are worried about compatibility between GD65 and corsair(as in your other thread), why not get a cm silent pro?
E-mail,
marketing@msi-in.com once and ask about the socket. But i don't know if they would answer or not.

Well the TX 750 remains for crossfire

I think you didn't see my thread posting DX9 vs DX11 from

Dirt 2 benchmarks - DX 9 vs. DX 11 - Update: Radeon HD 5970 results - Colin McRae Dirt 2, DirectX 9 vs. DirectX 11, Test, Benchmark - PC Games Hardware

I am not adamant ab8 i5 750

I have left those notions weeks before. You may check my other threads also where i posted if you want

CM 590 is for ATI 5870, ATI 5970 in Q4 2010 (coz CM 690 has HDD cooling problem and can't fit ATI 5970 properly )

Cpu - Intel core i5-750 (2.66Ghz) - 9.5k

Mobo - Asus P7P55D or Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R - 10-11k

Ram - Transcend 2x2gb 1333mhz ddr3 - 4.8k

HDD - Seagate 500gb - 2.3k

Optical drive - Samsung/LG DVD writer - 1.1k

Graphics card - ATI HD 5770 1gb GDDR5 - 10.5k (more future ready)

Cabinet - Cooler Master CM 590 - 4k

SMPS - Corsair HX 750 - 8-9k

Monitor - BenQ 24" G2420HD - 12k

If you plan on overclocking your P55 past current 4.3GHz limits on air or water, you need to be aware of potential problems with current socket designs.

So far, EVGA is the only company we know that uses sockets exclusively from LOTES on their top-tier P55 boards - for example, the EVGA P55 Classified 200, model E659.

AnandTech: P55 Extreme Overclockers: Check your sockets!

I don't think you'll go 4GHz+

I won't overclock this rig till 1 year.

Asus P7P55D doesn't support crossfire

Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R - 12.5k

Does MSI P55 GD65 have any problems ,for that you want me to change my mobo ?

I will consider BenQ 24" G2420HD - 12k

No offence bro, spare me the horror

My legs are already being pulled by naive_harry for suggesting ATI 5770 to other and him during this November when i first joined this forum

Moreover lateron i realised my mistake and rectified it

I need ATI 4890 to last till 2010 or max till q2 2011 till AMD's Hectanocheires arrive or ATI 5870 drops to 15k

DX11 is gonna take time and by this time DX11 market will be settled down due to FERMI ( God knows when its gonna come )

I want to jump to DX11 through DX11 2nd generation cards if my card hold out till then

P55 UD3r is 11.5 k bro ...

Not here bro

Its 12.5k , and i'll buy this hardware only from Kolkata

I wanted to ask everyone , does MSI P55 GD65 have any defects which anandtech pointed out ab8 8gb(rectified by bios update not) and MSI OC genie not using Corsair PSU's ?

I banished MSI P55 CD53 at the beginning because it blew out 1 phase during Tomshardware review @ 1.45v

Does MSI P55 GD65 have any defects that you guys know ? Or you feel Gigabyte UD3R is better choice

Keep in mind i won't overclock even a tiny bit

Gigabyte and asus' boards are more prone to socket burning due to their 100% reliance on foxconn sockets. Gigabyte's lotes socket boards are named p55a-xxx. Older p55-xxx are made of foxconn. All reviews say that msi p55 gd65 offers best bang for buck due to sli+crossfire. Most of the reviewers have given it editor's choice gold. But, you may or may not get one with lotes.

but msi warranty is horrible & will make him cry later because if your product is discontinued instead of giving you a new gen product of the same or higher performance/value they give you a unreasonably low value credit note

If you are spending so much then get 1600MHz ram from gskill. Believe me they are very nice. And from my experience avoid MSI as much as you can.

Yeah. That's one of the major disadvantages of msi.

@w1nD: which socket does your board use?

Don't worry, buy the 4890. It is much more powerfull than the 5770. :) And yeah, it can play all games at highest setting for a full HD monitor.

Although I'd personally suggest you to wait for the 32nm i7. Performance increase from your current X4 955 should be much more noticeable. :)

wats the difference between a ud2 and ud3 motherboard
i mean in functionality other than the extra pci and pcie slots
so much of price diff.

if no oc=======intel boards

why no 1's suggesting them

Intel DP55KG-11.5k(overclockable series)
Intel DP55WB-5.9k

guess you know them

any reason in not considering these boards
