Card : BIG 7600GS. Card was making a kinda irritating noise, like a HDD making GRRRR noises, not the usual whine/humm.

materials used : 92mm fan, some thread.

result,

woaaah , nice...sorry im gonna copy it :P , i have a 90mm thermaltake lyin around , will be a bit noisy , but if its effective who cares :P....btw...what abt the temps before and after the mod / load / idle ?

shouldn't the fan be closer?

just tightening up the string will do it :).....however i guess its kept at a distance cause of the deadspot....too close and the 90mm fan wouldnt blow where it needs to........

as usual there will be a HUGE drop in temps. stupid driver dont support temp monitoring, getting better drivers.

udit, some gap between fan and HSF is needed. can adjust gap by shortening the strings no issues :P

pls post abt the temps.....am seeing motogp :) and as i thought of doing the same i realised that i cant do it cause i have broken push pins :( .....still no time to fix it up :(

thanks rushabh :P

lol hanzy, go to any shardware shop, tell him u want 2.5mm dia 1 inch nut and bolt, 2 or 4 needed. replace pushpins with these :P just make sure you add a piece of paper between the PCB and the nut for insulation.

Hey guys U will laugh but I m unable to remove 5 screws (total 11 etc) from ma 8800GT heatsink, they r too tight, I tried multiple times, all in vain, I really wanna apply Arctic MX-2. LOL

lassi laced with some whiskey shud do da trick
anyhow once saw my tv repairer heat the tight screw to take it out...but i think dat wud be too dangerous cos the screws are on the pcb itself

Buy a new screwdriver from a reputed compabny like Taparia or stanley. Old screwdrivers get blunt, even if they are slightly blunt, removing screws will be painful.
40mm? more revs, more noise :| this 92mm fan is perfect for me. cools memory as well! :D

Siddhu, just do what I said before ;) will work. Or else rip off the plastic thing with a knife :P if the warranty is over, lol
