Any YOUTELECOM broadband users here?

@sangram: If you want a connection for downloading, then look at Reliance Wimax. Ask people in your area for their opinion first. Check pings too if you want to play games online. I'm lucky to have a stable Reliance connection that has been giving me consistent speeds ~36-37KB/s on a 300kbps unlimited connection at any given time.

@ cyberjunkie -

wat is the total per month fees(including hiddencosts) for 300kbs unlimited.?

Any unlimited plan less than 300kbs?

Wat r the basics v should have before applying?

@cyberjunkie: I'm not much of a downloader TBH. I'm OK if I had this connection with stable and consistent speeds. I'm supposed to get about 22kb/s on a 192 unlimited, and though it gives me that when the connection is up, the problem is that it's pretty flaky.

I don't even mind a 128kb/s. But I may finally change over. Maybe Tata Indicom, but I'm seeing too many horror stories with CC. My subscription with these goons ends on 31st March. I may continue for one more month if I can't make up my mind. Then we'll see.

Been using YouTelecom since the day they started service in india ( it was Iqara back then ). That was about 3 years back.
No major problems whatsoever.
Minor problems like slow speeds, connection cut for an hr or so were frequent in first year. But after they changed to YouTelecom, occurance of these has reduced too.
The only problem i face now is the sms' sent by them - all the promotional offers etc. Insanely irritating.

I am using the 4 gigs per month plan @ 2 mbps. Though i never got 2 mbps, it generally hovers around 30-45 kBps for downloads.

For a paltry sum of 750 Rs. per month, imho its a steal !

You're getting around 1/5th the speed they promised you. How is that not bad? :p I get the same speed more or less (37-38KB/s). If downloads are kept on 24/7 for a month on this unlimited connection, it'll easily do a 100GB. All this for Rs. 350 more.

Sure you'd say you don't want the connection to download, which is fine but then get them to give you the proper 2Mbps speed !

@cyberjunkie - you have a point there, buddy.
But ..
1. I had applied for Reliance last year - and those buggers took full 2 months to even put up some bs wiring on my building. And they were offering 512kbps line with unlimited d/l for a paltry sum of Rs. 450 per month and installation charges of Rs.500. Instead youtelecom did the connection ( which i had cut accidentally, in 2 days flat, without charging a single penny )

2. My neighbour has a sify connection claiming 256kbps - and its even slower than the good ol' dial-up !

3. Am fed up with attitude of Reliance ppl in my area - these guys come at any time of the day to check on their cables which pass over my terrace. And to top it off, they even installed a distribution box in my terrace without my permission - all this when they were permitted to only check on their cables on that particular day.

4. IMHO, service from each ISP differs with cities/ areas - so no point in comparing diff cities/ areas in terms of speed. As far as the service/ customer care is concerned, it is ok.
For that matter, i am pretty much happy with YouTelecom.

Im using You telecom too i'm on the 192 Kbps Unlimited DL plan .. All of last year I got the promised speeds, low downtime and pretty darn good pings. But ever since late january its been all down the drain. Killer downtime, sucky speeds.. Im living in bandra.

@sangram

If you do go in for any other ISP in bandra id really apppreciate your feedback on the same.

yesterday from 8pm utorrent was working with low speed and funny thing was that some of the webpages were opening and some were not.
