Can't imagine there are people willing to play racing games with keyboard. Cheap analogue controllers for the PC are out everywhere now.

Its not about the price, i already have two analog controllers, 1 is xbox controller which i have moded to work with USB. and other is cheap dualshock.

I just dot feel comfertable playing racing games with it. Maybe because i grew up playing nfs with keyboard.

Actually the keyboard is slower since it's a digital device trying to emulate analog input at a preset rate (if it was truly digital, the steering would be uncontrollably twitchy anyway).

Turning the same amount of degrees with a keyboard takes more time and effort than on an analog stick.

With a stick, you can go from idle to max lock in an instant as opposed to a keyboard which will just steer all the way no matter what.

Laptimes don't suffer much since it's an arcade racer, but the fun factor takes a nosedive :(

hehe, i am having lots of fun playing NFSMW, i have played whole nfs series with keyboard only and nowhere i believed the fun took nose dive bcoz i did not use controller. I gave controller a good shot with NFSU and NFSU2 when i was doing the review for guru3d but never got hang of it.

And when i am talking of slow i mean the controlling it using analong controller stick it slower for me. I can adjust car stearing a lot quicker by Tap Tap on keyboard than analog stick. And i have tried really hard to play game with analog controllers. Buy i can only enjoyed MS FS 2004 with the controller. I dont use controller for any other game. I had played NFS4 High stakes using stearing wheel and gas paddles. That was fun but that thing stopped working after a while and i was back to keyboard.

How much is the Converter from USB to PlayStation Controller Port for?

I have 3 Original Sony Dual Shock Controllers lying near my PSOne and PS for that matter :S :P.

no idea.

if you are ready to temper with 1 of your controllers then there are guides to cut the controller wire and one usb wire and to make joint and use it on USB port. Thats what i did with one of my Xbox controllers.

I initially had a Logitech gamepad. Then graduated to a joystick. Then a Forcefeedback one.

Then that conked out and finally, a MS Sidewinder FF. I play NFS MW on my keyboard as the joystick is upstairs :P
But I prfer the joystick. The fun factor is waaaay better. And especially in NFS Porsche.... Am dying to use it with NFS MW.

The usb converter is cheap but impossible to find. You can order from lik-sang.com, they deliver to India.
I use the one that allows connecting 2 controllers at once, excellent for 2 players in we8 and console emulation (especially the snes and psx 2d fighters).

The permanent conversion by cuting wires has fully functional forcefeedback as well?

Amazing!!! I jst cudnt get out of my chair last nite, another race another race, modding cars WOOOW!!! I was up till 2 at least. This is game is really amazing.

Guys u mention analog gamepad,is it something like what is used on a PS2 or xbox only of course in this case it'll be for the PC. Nikhil says joystick and there is also a racing wheel. Im a bit confused, what is the best pad to be had or joystick or which one exactly??

Well, for racing, racing wheel > joystick > gamepad > keyboard.

But a racing wheel cannot be used for any other games aoart from racing.

That is why I prefer a joystick as it is more of an all rounder. and if you have abt 7K to spare for a MS Force feedback joystick, it will be really good.

Hey Nikhil, u r in blore rt, so which shop would you recommend to get any of these and which brand. Currently looking only at Brigade road/koramanagala area

Well, I bought the MS joystick from this shop called Galsgow Computers. It is near KFC, Plaent M, The fila Store on Brigade Road. IT is in the basement.

You know the entrance to Planet M right?? Just go ahead a little bit and look down.

And apart from this one, there are quite a few computer shops on Brigade Road...

hey nikhil, do you have the ms sidewinder ff 1 or 2? AFAIK ms stopped supporting ff 1 and im stuck with a 10k piece of junk at home X(

Guys, silly question: Capturing an in-game screenshot, is it F12 or or prntscrn key? Wanted to post a couple of pics of the cars :hap2:

Use Fraps. It is damn simple. With that, you can program any key like F10, etc to captyre a screenie.

Otherwise, it is Print screen --> Paint --> Paste --> Save.

NFSMW is the best one from the series i think.. Till now, it was NFS 3 for me.. But this blows everything away!! :hap2:
