Have you tested them ??
Most of time these apps don't really function as per your needs....

Had tried the first one sometime back and it did function properly most of the time. The 2nd app is created by the same developer and has a good rating of 4.5 after 1850 votes. It wouldn't hurt to give it a shot, would it? :)

It surely wouldn't hurt but im happy with the traditional SMS system plus im on Rs35 plan from vodafone and that does it for me....atleast for now :)

I use a Rs. 36 per month plan from Vodafone too. These apps were for the OP who has a tablet without GSM capabilities.

Anyway, @comp@ddict, have you tried Google Currents on your tab, yet? I prefer it over Flipboard for offline reading.

Haven't. Will give it a go today!

Can you guys suggest an app to read books (in pdf format) for night time. Adobe Reader is too bright. Don't want to kill my eyes already.

Although it does not have individual setting for screen brightness, ezPDF reader is by far the best PDF reader on Android, out of the ones that I have tried. Its night mode does save a lot of battery on devices with AMOLED screens, but I'm not sure if reading white text on a black BG is everybody's cup of tea.

Anyway, if you're reading novels, epubs are way better than PDFs not only because of their lightweight nature, but also coz Android readers such as Moon Reader and Aldiko are way better than any PDF reader you'll ever find on a smartphone platform. Increasing/decreasing brightness on these apps is as simple as sliding up or down on the left hand side of the screen. Moon reader also has some interesting backgrounds which make the screen look more real paper like, thereby being easier on the eyes.
