Do you consider a scam to only be a transaction where money has been lost/taken/held or would you also consider false information and lies and fake commitments prior to a deal to also be a scam?
Basically someone can be unreliable without being a scammer, and can commit fraud without any currency being transacted. So for the purpose of a forum like this, which uses a kind of social trust system rather than a legal one, it is useful to know what kinds of behaviour you're dealing with to better judge.Lies, ghosting, are bad faith and a hole behaviours, but imo scam implies monetary damages.
Isn't that the standard bargaining technique every Indian is taught? "That shop is giving for less"..."I have only Rs. X, so reduce price", etc....or would you also consider false information and lies and fake commitments prior to a deal to also be a scam?
This one is from the Olx school of bar.. er lowballingI have only Rs. X, so reduce price
I would have thought the latter would always be leading or resulting in the former.Do you consider a scam to only be a transaction where money has been lost/taken/held or would you also consider false information and lies and fake commitments prior to a deal to also be a scam?
It's because old members know how to respond or deal with it and would certainly ask mods to remove comments. New members are more likely to accept 'this is how it works here' and get peer-pressured. Another point is most old members all know each other and their buying selling patterns and know that their suggestions would not have any effect or will get a rude reply back.Funnily in the past i've also noticed that no one points out the high pricing to old members.. but new members dare price something high and there thread will be 100% murdered.
Gonna remember this for all future trades. It's because old members know how to respond or deal with it and would certainly ask mods to remove comments.
