I researched the best air conditioner for home use over the past few days because the summer heat is getting intense where i live i went through reviews on The New York Times Wirecutter Consumer Reports and Popular Mechanics and they all seem to highlight these two models as top picks:

Midea 12,000 BTU U Shaped Smart Inverter Window Air Conditioner
https://www.amazon.com/Midea-Inverter-Conditioner-Flexibility-Installation/dp/B0867GMW9X?th=1

Whynter Inverter Portable Air Conditioner 14,000 BTU with Dual Hose
https://www.amazon.com/Whynter-ARC-1230WN-Inverter-Conditioner-Dehumidifier/dp/B09TP51PPH

However i am struggling to decide which one would suit my home best and could really use some advice from those who’ve used either of these or can suggest a better option.
My needs:
I have a 3 bedroom house with a living room and i am mainly looking to cool 2 bedrooms and the living area energy efficiency is important to me and i would prefer something that runs quietly since i am a light sleeper smart features would be a bonus but not a must have i have open to both window units and portable ones as long as they are effective.
Which one would you recommend? Or is there another unit that’s been working well for you?
Thanks in advance!

Are you based in the US? Just asking because your question (and the models you're looking at) seem more relevant to the American market. Most members here are from India or nearby regions, so the availability, service network, and even electricity standards might differ a lot.
You might get more helpful and specific recommendations if you ask on a US-based tech forum or subreddit like r/HomeImprovement or r/Appliances.
