NFS Most Wanted...best in the series till yet..
Also NFS: Porsche Unleashed, worth mentioning...

The only thing I'll even consider as a sim is GTR2. Grid is hardly a sim, putting in cars that understeer on the way into a corner and oversteer on the way out is not a sim.

The best arcade racer to me has to be NFS:4 (high stakes, the one just before Porsche). Day and night racing, lots of tracks with options to race forward, backward, mirrored, and with or without weather (which would dramatically affect the car's grip and handling), cop chases, option to race as cops, excellent career mode, rewards for all kinds of achievements, the whole shebang. I would install it right now, except that it would look like crap at my resolution. I must've put one full year's time into the game, if you add up all the hours I spent playing it over 6 years.

+1 though i played it on my PS, i consider it the best nfs game. have spent hours and hours over this one. porsche unleashed comes very close too.

NFS:Carbon was good especially the carbon valley racing part.spent a lot of time on it though but prostreet was dissapointing

How come no one mentioned test Drive Unlimited. You should try it. A really good racing game. A mix of both Sim and Arcade. Some of the great features:

- The entire island of hawaii to explore
- Includes Bikes and Cars
- A huge list of cars. (That wont just be available for free or unlock. You need to earn money and go to the showroom and buy the car)
- Every company car have a unique showroom
- You can put ur old cars up for sale which other players can buy real time (but dont think many people play the game now)
- Clubs. Where you and ur friends can create a club and race against other clubs or amongst urselfs
- Some Cars can be taken on rent when u dont have the money
- Side missions and a number of races
- Race creator
etc etc etc

NFS underground 1
MW

Porsche unleashed was too difficult for me, the stage where you have to knock out the cones

You just had to slow down after you hit a cone, set up the angle for the next one, then accelerate. On the wet highway it was a little tough the first couple of times, but once you get the rythm you'd be fine. The only tough one for me was the TV commercial.

I think once one gets past the initial learning curve of Live for Speed, I doubt they would be spending much time with anything else.

Damn game keeps getting better with every patch :).
The multiplayer is near flawless and it's still just in Alpha stage.

Try the demo. (And ignore the crappy UI.)

I didn't say that... I like low-grip racers. I didn't like the 1920x limitation or the buggy code, but the racing was decent. You actually have to know how to drive to play that game.

For me its :-

-NFS U2 - Awesome night racing! and awesome environment + freeroam! which was quite a big thing at that time!:ohyeah:

-NFS MW - The whole lotta cops chasing u and going through roadblocks, avoiding spikes etc. used to be pure fun! Car customizability was again awesome!

-Test Drive : Unlimited - I consider it a worthy successor to NFS MW in graphics! I usually play it when its raining!!:ashamed: gives me the real feel of Hawaii lol!:D btw the graphics are pure awesome!!! i love this game!

-GRID - Again an awesome game!! earlier started playing via keyboard but used to lose every race!:ashamed: :( Then i tried a controller and now i win every race(as it offers better control and easy manual transmission! imo manual transmission is way better)
Damage and car parts flying off seem realistic!! Again a game i love to play anytime!
